Is there a mod for the GT5 Drift sub-forum? I know it is difficult to police because team threads basically become chat threads, but it is absolutely ridiculous how much mayhem there is in there.

I know it get's ugly and I know there was a problem with the drift forum back in the GT4 days, but alot goes on in there that is against the AUP and against the spirit of GTP and it drives people away..

No, moderators aren't generally "assigned" to specific forums. As always, if you see something out of line, please report it and the entire staff will be immediately notified of it.

I personally have reported many threads and posts that have been in violation of the aup. I am familiar with the process.

It's just that there are multiple threads that have been reported by multiple people that have never gotten moderated. If you spend 2 minutes in the drift forum you will find plenty of violations that go unchecked.

Since noone's assigned, perhaps the moderators just prefer to not be bothered with the drifting subforum. Jordan, I know this can't be the first time you've heard complaints about it, but please understand that I'm merely frustrated with the state of things in there.

Edit: Please have a brief look through this thread and you will see a good example of what I'm talking about.

I notice Scaff, interludes and niky drop by once in a while...

Are "Staff Emeritus" members basically a step down from moderators, and do they also have certain powers of a mod? If so, nk4e is totally worth promoting as he's there all the time.

You're close... "Staff Emeritus" are moderators who have stepped down. They enjoy all of the perks of Premium and can still interact with us via our back-channel methods, but don't have the ability to hand out infractions or close other peoples' threads.

The Drifting sub-forum has earned a reputation for poor listening after numerous occasions of staff members being ignored when team threads are requested to reign in the off-topic, chatroom-like talk (we do like to remind people that Social Groups are possible with the board software, though :)). If the request isn't ignored, it's usually met with resistance, but make no mistake, all of us do pop in there from time to time.

Like Jordan said, a Reported post is the easiest and quickest way to get us over to a specific problem, though, as in threads like the example given, a page or two can go by in a short amount of time, and we could miss a problem poster. The Report button's kind of like a Bat Signal, though our capes are way better :D

Thanks slipz, I total agree about the drift forum's reputation and I guess because of the crowd in there, things can get out of hand VERY quickly.

That being said, there are some awesome folks to drift with which in a way makes it worth it ;)

So like the bat signal, if you aren't looking towards the sky gotham descends into panic? ;) Might wanna replace the bulb, cuz that signal will be getting ALOT more use :)

Thanks again!
