I just bought my MX5 Miata....cuz I been playin around, tryin new FR cars to see what I can drift. And I stumbled upon that car. I messed around, found that I liked how it drifts. Good response from the suspension so I can inertia drift through chicanes...light body so I can throw it into corners ....and perosnally I like the flip up headlights :D

But one thing that's really been bothering me. :irked: ... I HAVE to throw it into the corners, even with 250hp because it doesn't spin the wheels easily enough. I increased the camber just like pro drifters, but then it slid TOO much. I tried inccreasing power but that just makes it snap harder and faster. I found that the car drifts VERY well 💡 when it's at redline and you hold it there. Anyone got suggestions on settings I could do to it so that I have an easier time? I use sim tires :)

Hmmm.. same here man... i stumbled upon it too.. and i liked it and all but it did not spin the tires to much... i lacks power... so i just stuck with what i like... are you using sims?

yeah its a very enjoyable car, you just have to set it up right and weight transfer like a mofo.

*not to mention work those gears

I drift perfect in it using T4's in teh front and stockers in teh back. I don't care what you say about mixing tires, i can drift it just fine. :)

BTW I makin 331hp and keeping it NA

well your going to be left behind.... If you like mixing, do what you want, it's not my skills your jeopardizing.....

Ok, name calling is really not needed.

If you want proof of mixing tires being bad, just go here and read what Siliviadrifter said.

That's great that you use sims on your other cars. But mixing is simply a crutch that will keep you on a lower level of drifting and limiting your technique.

Yes it was. And if you want my nice answer (since you were nice) Some prefere sims, some prefere mixing, and some prefere sports. I just get bored of sims as it said in my post i use sims on several of my cars one of which is my miaTa, but i prefere mixing because it gives me more cointrol over the car and i can drift at higher speeds with mixing tires. Ohh and that is just what one person says i don't give a ish about what silvia drifter has to say, just what i have to say. Also my car is not close to stock power as he says you should use them with a car with close to stock power.

Ok, I'll give you one thing about that post. You're right, you shouldn't listen to just one person. But when all the veterans of the forum come to the conclusion that mixing tires is bad for technique, then anyone that's interested in become a better drifter would have to at least listen.

It sounds like you're not a competition drifter. Correct me if I'm wrong. But you don't plan on getting involved in any GTP Challenges or anything. If that is that case, then do whatever you like. But if you're truly interested in getting better, why wouldn't you listen to people that are better then yourself. I'm not talking about me, my skill is mediocre at best.

BTW, from what you're writing, it sounds like you believe you are a good drifter. So, are you able to drift any stock power cars? Or are all of them suped up to some degree. I learned on an S13 with stock power. That car will drift just fine, once you develop good technique. It really taught me a lot about control and precise inputs. And, you don't have more control when you mix tires. You're forced to tune your car around the unbalanced tires. So in essence your really disturbing the physics of the car by mixing tires.

Oh yeah, why are you getting so mad? This is a forum for discussion of thoughts and opinions. So relax.

No i am not planning on doing any comps on GTP and becoming what you think is a professial drifter and i am going to do whatever i like and i don't see why you people have a problem with it, i am just drifting for fun like real men do; not to win a prize and to get to be able to say "I can drift better than all of you, in a Video Game!". All i did was say i use T4's in the front and stockers in the back and this guy is claiming i am "Jepordizing my skills". Ohh and BTW I don't plan on drifting a stock S13. I find no fun i racing around a stock car. I don't plan on honeing in my skills in a video game. I plan on getting better in Real Life with Real Cars. Not like you guys i have a picture for you guys and i will not be returning to this thread to argue with you any more because it is childish. I don't know why you can't see that, I'm 15 years old. :dunce:

Well said. Hopefully our friend here, fwdtamiya, will learn to respect veteran's concepts of mixing tires and SD as well. We're not trying to force you to use sim tires but don't think we're wrong when we think mixing tires is bad.

because of everyone's bickering, and the level of difficulty expressed with this car.

i've decided to make it my next project. yay.

i personnally dont see why it is so difficult to drive this car
my settings do quite well
plus i dont if it is true in gt3 but the mx5 is a perfectly balanced vehicle
or so says import tuners oct 2003 issue

car: mx5 LS
settings: 315 hp

You want to know why I got on you. Cause you had to go and insult a member. Not to mention you came off with a superior attitude and don't say"I didn't mean to". Insulting someone else cause his opinion is different then yours is unacceptable.

Now, your 15. You can't even drive yet. So why are you even saying anything about real driving and real cars unless now you're breaking the law. Oh well, since you're not going to read this I guess none of your wonderful tire mixing skills go. Have fun driving your real cars....when you're old enough.

And stop insulting people.

Yeah, let's not flame the fire by talking about him all day. I'm officially going to shutup about him. 🤬

Wow, I left this thread for a day and a half and some guy flames me lol... Well I only have one or two things to say... I do aspire to drift in real life, just like you, I do aspire to race as well, And do you want to know something? I DO know how to drive, I already have made plans to buy a used S13, because I like DRIFting....

Touge-Drifter
Im 14.....

Hey, I'm not ragging on anyones age. I know a drifter on these forums that's 14 and can out drift me any day of the week.

My point is don't talk about what you can do when you CAN'T. That's all. This forum is all about the members become better drifters. Whether it be in GT3/GT4 or in real life. So for somebody who's 15 to insult someone that has more skill and knowledge then him and then boast to aspire to real driving skill is just plain stupid. :dunce:

Amen to that.... Oh I just bought an mx-5, i can see what you mean from the strange powerband, I more than a couple of times accidently pulled out of a drift because of the damn machine lol
