Hi I have a lancer ex 1800gsr and I was wondering what I should do to get it drift able I'm new so that's why I picked this car cuz I saw in a sticky said it was a good beginner car but I've oil changed it and added a spoiler but now I'm stuck what should I do next?

You'll have to clarify a few things first:

1. What are you using, controller or wheel?
2. What are your goals for drifting? Do you simply want to be able to gold the drift trials? Or do you want to learn how to drift for realz and participate in online tandem lobbies?

My first recommendation is to read some of the stickies at the top of this forum. Some of your basic questions will be answered, plus they will increase your knowledge base when it comes to drifting.

Also, go to the tuning sub-thread, and look up Shmogt's drift garage. He has a pretty good write-up in his OP about basic drift tuning, as well as some of the other basics about drifting (tranny talk, how to innitiate, etc)

For your specific car, this is my recommendation.

Fully upgrade it. Use a manual tranny, and use CH tires. Remember to turn all aids off (except abs). I've never tuned that specific car myself, so I can't give you any specific settings. Check the "drift tunes depot" stuckied at the top of this page to see if someone has posted a tune for that car. If not, try to find one for a similar car (similar power and weight) and try that tune out, then monkey with the settings until you feel comfortable with it.

In all honesty, once you put on CH tires, you should be able to get almost any car sideways. People tend to get caught up in the idea that there is a magic tune for a car that will make it "easy" to drift. In my experience, for most typical drift cars, dialing in a tune only really helps an experienced drifter get the most out of his car. When I was starting out, I tried all kinds of different cars with different tunes from the drift depot, and most of them I hated. Now that I'm more experienced, I've gone back and retrying certain cars with tunes from the depot, and findig them to be very good. The reason for this is most of the tunes posted are posted by experienced drifters who have spent a lot of time I that specific car. Their tunes are actually very aggressive...ie they are difficult for a new drifter to handle, but an experienced drifter can use the aggressive tune to push the car to it's limits.

Well I did a few laps around pmg I'm going to sell it wrong don't ban me but tsubaku and I've gotten it to drift ok for my exp level I think. I'm using a ds3 and to play around on the drift rooms online but also seasonals since speed isn't a factor. It's like my training car until I can step up to a faster car. And I looked in the depot didn't se anything but I'll see shmos thread I've looked thru his tunes and trying to get a car he says is good for beginners with his tune so I can practice with that. Thank you for the help tho and also any idea what race car I can use for the seasonal that's out I've used the Mazda roadster LM and I can't get bronze my highest is like 5400

Gotta go back to work, so can't answer all your questions atm...but for the race car drift trial, I would use the Blitz ER34 (premium one)...I think I have Shmogt's tune on it (might be from the depot actually...can't remember)...but either way, it counts as a race car, and it drifts like a dream. Takes a little bit of throttle control, but once you figure that out, gold should be pretty easy.

I went to school for welding hearing nothing but how much I'll be needed once I'm done. I get certified and out not a job to be found that I qualify for

You serious dude??? Come to Canada...trades can get jobs so easy right now. Go work in the oil and gas industry in Alberta or northern BC. Shift work, like 20 days on doing like10-12 hour days, 10 days off...with your welding ticket, you'll be starting at $30.00 an hour or more, plus overtime, plus living allowance (averages about $150.00 per day). If you work for a good company, they'll even pay for your flights when you go home. There's adds all over tv and radio right now for all the major oil and gas companies up here...they can't find enough skilled competent people. It's tough work, but the money is pretty ballin. I got buddies who work in alberta that are clearing $100k a year...and all they do is drive trucks lol.

Or go to Easter Canada, Halifax specifically, and work in the ship building industry....they just got like some crazy 50 billion dollar contract to build a bunch of new navy ships (so in Canada, pretty much just fancy canoes lol) over the next 10-20 years.

Waaaay off topic lol, but oh wells.
