I would just like to know, who here 'show-drifts' (as in loooong, extended, showy drifts) when they are racing against the AI? If you are one of these people, do you normally win?

Sorry if there is correct terminology for this type of drift.

Thanks

If you are trying to stay in front of the lead car to practice race-drifting, that's another story altogether..........It's quite fun if you ask me.

However, I prefer to drift with the AI to practice drifting between the lead car and the car in 3rd place to help with my drift control.......I think winning on practice sessions is pointless.....
The point of practice is to get better. I feel as if one's focus should be specifically devoted to doing your best IMHO. Then your attention is on your drift, and not divided between the drift, and winning.

I exhibition drift all the time with the AI. I like to let them lead until the fifth lap, then I beat them. The replays are more exciting than a free run drift because you do more than just drift, you draft, overtake from outside or inside, and you battle for the lead.

Yes I normally win.

I sometimes do but usually just do free run. I'm not so much interested in winning the race as trying to improve my skill. I think I'd race against the AI's more often if they acknowledged your existance (as oppose to slamming into you if you're in their way). Check out the webpage in my signature for some videos of me racing against the AI in an RX-7.

I exhibition drift more than anything else, also in free mode. However, I did beat the beginner class races while exhibition drifting (long showy drifts). I just drift, now, to increase my skill, and keep them polished.;)

most everyone here freaking exhibition drifts. I've never seen one speed drift video here excaept for akina86's. Someone here needs to set up a speed drift sompetition.

We already have a speed drift competition, it's called the GTPDC. Also, the reason why there isn't that many speed drifters around, is because it is less challenging, so ultimately it is less fun. I enjoy speed drifting, but it's just too easy to control the car with speed drift settings IMHO, so I exhibition drift to feed my hunger. I just get too bored with speed drifting, I require more of a challenge to hold my interest. ;)

I think we dont hear or see all that much about speed drifting because it dose not look as good as exhibition drifting in my opinion. Showy drifts are more fun to perform and its more of a challenge. I think that if you can exhibition drift on a high level, then you can quickly learn how to speed drift.

If you want a fair competition against the AI, you must not exceed 355 HP with your garage cars or else you will end up racing the super cars and surely lose if you drift against them. This pertains to A and B class cars...give or take some exceptions, if you stage 4 turbo low stock HP car, then you'd end up facing the super cars also.

I was talking about the simulation mode beginner class, not the arcade, but that is interesting. I did notice that whenever I tried to take out my 500hp S13 I would be up against the S-Class cars. ;)

I posted a vid a while back of a lap of me in my RX7 doing a 1:26 lap around deep forest, race drifting, how dare you not remember me! REMEMBER ME DAMN YOU!!

ok I feel better now, just had to get that outta my system...

oops, sorry Breaker. Didn't mean to give someone else credit for your work. So what RX7 vid is Bryan talking about? ;)

did u know that Keiichi factored in drift tecniques when he won circuit races back then in his sprinter? how is that possible???????????????

well if you knwo the weight transfer of the car it helps your breaking (less breaking) id imagine the experience of zero counter drifting would dramatically increase speed because you would take the ideal line..

I have a hybrid F1 car that will be in my hybrid drifting video. It's got all Silvia parts. I call it the F666/silvia. It's red and black, and drift's like a dream. ;)
