I can't wait to see this event lol
I don't think Irwindale can handle this much NASCAR fans.I'm sure just one NASCAR super start can bring maybe 5,000 to 10,00 fans.

Angle and Style points right here.:trouble:

I remembered some dope on "WindTunnel with Dave Despain" gave out an E-Mail saying something like this:

(indirect quote) "You want drifting? Just go see sprint cars go sideways in the turns." -WindTunnel E-mailer

This even though D. Despain had a fondness of drifting. I will say that drifting on these courses on otherwise boring "short" tracks (hate at me at will. I was expecting some hate) brings some nice life to them. I consider drifting as road racing even though no real "racing" goes on. It's just a tandem battle from Round 1 all the way to the finals. I wondered how the "fanboy-friendly" Dale Earnhardt Jr. would do up against Tarzan or Daisuke Ito or Ken Gushi. The D1GP doesn't need to sell out to NASCAR even in this one-off challenge.

I read the site. Why don't they get Smoke (Tony Stewart) to compete in that series? He has a habit of being a punk on the track, so he'd be just as perfect for battle. Just remember not to tap the other guy's opposite bumper.

Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, J.J. Yeley, Tracy Hines, and so many others came up to NASCAR from the sprint, midget, and Silver Crown ranks, so they have plenty of slideways experience.

It'll be fun to see Kasey compete, and Bill Elliot has been doing fun stuff like this since he retired (mostly playing with his dirt late model at home in Alabama and Georgia). Not to mention he has ten tons of IMSA experience.

"Turn right to go left." - Doc Hudson

and that from an old Stock car. let's see how them good 'ol boys drift.

The only advantage I'd see the NASCAR boys have is that a number of them know what sideways is like having done "dirt track" racing. Getting the cars to slide into the turns is easily one of the joys of this style of racing. Hell, I don't care if people practice rally racing with sprint cars (American sprint cars), they may have some trouble trying to go sideways in a drift car up against the pros. Or at most, a slight learning curve for the NASCAR boys. The "good ol' boys" to me are the drifters simply because the competition will have to play the drifting game. So the drift boys would have the advantage. Now if drifting sold out to NASCAR, then the drifters would have to play NASCAR's game.

It is still interesting to see how the NASCAR boys do. I'll limit my rants. If they win, I just don't want people to be like "NASCAR drivers are the best in the world! They beat the drift boys at their own game!" I have a more natural response towards this which doesn't involve some sort of pro-patriotic view.

Hmm I think Robby Gordon should be in this one, he's quite active in offroad racing I think he can hang it sideways quite well. He's shown that at a few sonoma races a few times.
