I've been watching the wonderful drift videos you guys have made, and have been playing with some of the submitted drift settings for certain cars. Tank was also nice enough to guide me to the basics. Now after weeks of drifting with those submitted settings, my conclusions:

It's nice; I understand why the settings are set that way, but they are impractical, the car is slow during turns, and there is no way to win races with those settings.
--------------------------

I can admire the beautiful long drifts and drift angles that people are doing here, but taking an average turn at such low speeds just to control a perfect drift is ridiculous in my style.

I'm not a particular ID fan, I know GT4 is not about touge racing. However, all that I needed to assure myself that drifting to win can be done is simply watching Keiichi "Drift King" Tsuchiya drift videos. What I need help is how to drift FOR SHOW AND TO WIN, not just for show.

If anyone here plays GT4 and drifts to win, I need your input. TKS

It's almost impossible to win show drifting Atenza. I personally have done it a few times, but only because I ran a modified car against a bunch of stock cars. It's damn hard too.

I hope this doesn't start the whole grip vs drift thing.

but you cant (show)drift to win. unless all the cars that you are racing are slow, than there is no way for you to win. Racing against computers is nothing like racing a human. Their strategy is different from an AI and probably better. Drifting is about style not speed.

EXACTLY. Most of us here drift because it is more of a challenge then straight up racing, more fun, and looks cool. I think drifting DOES help improve your racing skills, like how to have better control over your car.

Drift faster = lower angle. Practice manipulating your countersteer to obtain low angle high speed drifts.

well.... you can win if you don't show drift I've won a Lotus esprit @ Trial Mountain using my old S2000 (Stock!) you should try race drifting it's cool 👍

Don't worry. It won't.

It has been said quite well already. Drifting isn't about speed. You will NOT be faster drifting then a grip racer. You CANNOT beat a grip racer on a regular basis by drifting. So, there you go. I believe we're done here.
