I was a little curious, on how many people actualy Drift while raceng the comp not just when messing around by themselves, i noticed today that feom all the practice i have been doing in my spare time to drift, that there were parts of tracks that with certain cars i was faster through the corner when drifting then when grip driveing, don't get me wrong i am a pretty good grip driver, but it was sweet. just curious.:D

I drift every race, every corner I can up until amateur 4WD race. I win like..90% of them too, if I don't its because they bumped me and I spun...

I generally don't because the AI is not equipped to handle it. I do sometimes though. See my webpage in my signature I have a couple racing videos there.

I do sometimes, if my tires start tog et worn, I can't susually go faster drifting it than slowing down to keep grip. That doesn't always hold true though. But I do usually drift, just cause I'm almost always faster than my competiton.

..Okay, I have respect for you, Night Drifter, but enough with the high hp and SS tyres. We all know you do it. You comment on it almost every post. We get the point. You drift high horsepower cars, with Super Softs. Yippie!! :irked:

Since I have to race now (restarted my game), I have this AE86 I use. Fully modded and tuned, 344hp on slicks. I find it easier to drift than grip the car. It's good practice. If I'm behind a little, I like trying to manuever close to other cars while drifting. Like being right on the bumber of another car while drifting, but not actually touching. Stuff like that.

I dont seriously race anymore.
I drift a lot on Arcade, but I also drift against the AI Racers on Sim Mode.
I've already beat the game, so I race my dad and my sister too.
They both race well but don't drift.
They don't understand when they see me pass them in a turn while drifting. :banghead:

big deal i drift my 1045 hp supra what ur point on super soft, to tell u the truth i think thats easier then drifting in a 200hp on sims....*not trying to start a fight* im just saying

Wanted to put my two cents in before but i will add it in now...

I personally drift only when i am on super slicks or slicks while i race... On any other tire i will oversteer but never trully do anything that would resemble exhibition drift... I can win most races up to the professional mr race (which i think is harder than na) with my 350ish hp speedster... If no one ever pitted and i was on softs i would be able to win fair an square but i must use super slicks and drift my way through in a consitent and non wasteful manner... I can stay in second and third place through the majority of the race only to take first if the gt40 doesnt start out in the pole position... or if its just not there... The only time that exhibition drifting will benefit you in a race is if you plan on not pitting and you use harder racing tires...

On any other tire i still oversteer as i said before and i use the same techniques that i do in exhibition drifts to control my car at what i believe to be the limit of traction in gt3... I am by no means an expert and i am by no means a pro at this... I am still learning... But from what i have heard the fastest driving comes without smoke and without screeches the majority of the time... I have no found this place yet... i still screech plenty and employ slight slip angles that are generated by tire bending and of course slight loss of grip... but i strive for true drift... and that is a technique that should always be used...

I went drifting with an FC today and that thing looked like so much fun... it's definetely a capable drifter! Made me and the other 86 look like toys. We had a guy with a video camera but he didn't record any of the good stuff, and what he did record was shaking all over the place so we're just going to record over it. Oh well. I didn't pull anything too impressive anyway, and the guy in the FC had only had it for a few days, and had just gotten it up and running with all the stuff he swapped out from his last one, so he was still learning the car.

i drift while racing.......i mean i just started and all but i already have some replays so yeah

(hehehehe) Look initial d

I try to drift as much as possible durring races. I beat the whole beginner league that way. I just change the settings and tires depending on the type of track, and drift according to the best line for the situation.;)

Drifting in races definately makes the best replays as overtaking other cars in an insane drift just looks absolutely marvellous. ;) I especially enjoy taking the outside line on the "horseshoe" on trial mountain while the others take the inside.

But seriously, yeah - I do tend to drift even when I'm actually racing for positions. Just can't help it, really - the brake-turn-brake-throttle routine is just too deep in my spine. ;)
