Drifting Help w/ Mine's Skyline

Hey All

So today I figured I'd try the Mine's Skyline(yes I know its awd but I like it haha) for drifting at Nordwand. And its going pretty terrible actually. I have no problem initiating the drift but I find when I try to finish it or make a transition it goes crazy on me with oversteer or I counter it and it just whips back before I can even process it. Also driving in a straight line is pretty ridiculous as well

The last couple weeks I've been using the two Evos(not the tuned one) for drifting and I'm fairly decent at it( about 9 thousand to 12 thousand a time). So I'm assuming its the tune I'm using? (just based on my scores showing im somewhat capable :S )

So here's what I have for the Mines tune

Power: -4
Weight: 85%
Tyres: both N3
Aero: F.17 R.27

Ride Height: F.-8 ...R.-8
Spring: F.4... R.3
Damper: F.3...R.2
Toe: F 0.06+ ... R 0.14+
Camber: F 1.6 ... R 1.2
Brakes: F 5 ... R 3
TurnAngle: 50
Abs: 1
All other aids off and in Professional with a DFGT wheel(in simulation with 1ffb) in Manual Gearbox

Gears:
1st: 64....3827
2ns: 118...2090
3rd: 161...1535
4th: 196...1258
5th: 236...1045
6th: 301...0875
final: 3734

Anyways, If someone could assist me or guide me in the right direction thatd be great.

Also.... If I practice in time trial mode it doesn't let me tune whatsover. Basically what I'm wondering is; will my tune change when I go in there?(I know the brakes go to 5 for both) Id just rather practice there so I don't have to think about score while I'm learning cause it will just get really sloppy..

in time trial all the tune is abandoned to make it fair. so your best off entering online or in a single race. hope it help as far as tuning i don't know sorry.

Actually in a drift trial you get to keep all your settings.
 
yeah but if you wont to practice properly you need to be able to do a couple of laps instead of being stopped every 4 or 5 corners know what i mean?

Not really. You mean stopping to change settings? You can do a few laps before making a decision on a settings change needed.

how do you not get that? in drift trial you have to pause after each lap and its retarded. I dont want to see a score. its easy to score points in drift and it doesnt matter how messy it is but youll still get points. I'd rather do realistic drifting and not bother with the score..

Ive tried it in race mode its still the same. i think my gearing is way to high of a top speed? im going into the first corner at 110 km/h?
 
theirs a video some where that tells you the gear and entry speed for the corners on the track.
i'm not much good with 4WD i use RWD :) but i would stick to what gaer it tells you to be in but with 4WD i would think you need to be going a bit faster?

Yeah I'm thinking the speed is a little bit of an issue. but i mean generally your gonna be in second going through the first turn at nordwand and i just drop back to first for the second but im thinking the speed of my gears is still too fast?

With 4wd you can just give it the beans the whole time usually.. this car not so much. its not even during the drift im having an issue with its like coming out of it and trying straighten up the car is so unstable(in every mode ie race tt or drift) thats why i posted my tune to see what people to could tell me what they think or how i could improve it.

I find I can't drift rwd at all for some reason I've tried it a few times but I just cant hold a drift at all or even start one for that matter i just end up spinning out.

Oh for sure, now I get what he meant. When I go into drift trials I simply turn around and drive the track backwards.
 
try taking off the downforce and lowering the car a bit more with even stiffer spring rates ( try one at a time to find witch works best then make up a setup)

it takes like 3-4 seconds to hit start/re-start the drift trial. Thats what i do. I don't care about the points, but i drift in the drift trail arcade so i can use my tune. Once you're good at drifting with your own tune, i suggest going back to the time trial with the same tires. Then you will see what you learned applied in a different manner. That's what i've been doing lately. Going to time/trial, usuing the same tires (N3's) and going at it. Different feel and inputs but same concept. :)👍 You can really feel the weight transfer on most of the stock settings (softer suspension set-up)

yeah you could adjust it in gt4 so im going to assume that it will be.. hopefully they will just have continous laps for drift where it will justadd up the points like it would for time in a time trial.

Also im hoping theres more rally in the next one..

YES, Rally would be awesome. Wouldn't be GT without it. That is where the 4wd all wheel drifting comes in to play for me! I remember asking a while ago if there would be Rally, as there is none in GT5p. 💡

yeah i know. i read somewhere that some french kid can do grand canyon in 217! thats crazy. the best i can do is 227 which is prob what you need to get the hard special condtion event
 
Anyways, I've figured out the drifting on nordwand with the mines just got over 11 thousand points so now I just gotta try and learn suzuka
 
My tuning partner Hendrix has a nice little drift tune for the Mine's GTR.... He is planning on making more but he has absolutely no time at the moment, because hes working on his house... but you can give it a shot... I think it works best at Suzuka East or Eiger.... you can get it here

ill give it a shot.. i mean i can drift fairly decent on eiger with the mines(generally around 10-11 thousand points if i use thedrift mode). Suzuka i suck at no matter what car i use its just like the drifts are too long for me. i know its a faster course but if you mess up youre out on the gravel and its a pain to get back onto track..
