Hey everyone, I'm a beginner drifter and am not very good, but I can hold a decent drift every now and again. I have a few questions for yall:

1. How do you slow down if you enter a turn too fast and you know you're going to hit the wall? I've tried the brakes, but I keep sliding...

2. Sometimes when I try to drift my car keeps going straight and doesn't curve following the turn event though my car is angled and my tires are towards the turn. Any advice on how to fix this? Is there a way to make the car turn inwards at a sharper angle WHILE the car's drifting?

One more thing - I'm open to learning some drifting techniques from any of yall online. I'm in dental school so I don't have all the free time in the world, but I'm sure we can figure out a day and time if someone is willing! :)
 
1. Have you tried going into a higher gear?
2. Possibly a little hint but more gas = less counter-steering

The answer to your second question happens to be the answer to the first so I'll answer the second one first. :lol:
Increasing your angle mid drift just requires you to steer into the direction of the corner and apply some throttle then control the drift by gently controlling the steering. Practice is key.
If your entering a corner too fast add some angle and give it some throttle. Keep on mind if you are more than a few mph too fast nothing will save you, so again practice is key and after a couple hundred miles you'll get a feel for how fast to go and what how much angle to have. So get off that computer ad start drifting 👍

No, I haven't tried that, I'll give that a shot tomorrow.
And thanks for the hint! I never thought about it that way - I always counter-steer HARD and most of the time it whips me around.

"couple hundred miles" -- ah man :scared: ... lol And I wish I could be practicing right now, but I have a test on Friday...gotta read up on my muscles and skeleton. lol Thanks for the advice!

Don't worry those miles go real fast, I drift casually most of the time and have three or four cars that have three hundred plus miles. Oh what car do you use by chance, that makes a difference as well.
 
I've tried several cars, but the 350Z is working the best for me thus far. Plus I read in several places here that it's a good one for beginners. I'm going to stick with that until I perfect it before moving on to another car. And I'm using a G25 steering wheel, I know someone will ask me that sooner or later. lol

Learn to pace your speed, know what path your car will take at the speed you are travelling. You should rarely go too fast into a corner, unless you are trying 100 degree+ entries.

If that fails, handbrake, throttle off, angle.

Practice, practice, practice, and please refrain from making 'help me!' threads.

These will help very well and for aids i use
Everything off exept abs 1 and manual
 
I started learning drifting in auto and while it was good, it wasnt convenient. Manual drifting + throttle control is the best way. Use a higher gear and control the throttle and youll be sweet
