Drifting in Shift series

So I was wondering as a newcomer to this series, how big is the drift scene in NFS:Shift 1 and how big do you think it's going to be in Shift 2 based on that and what we've learned? Does it make up a relatively big portion of the online lobbies?

Thanks in advance

I have no clue about how online is as I tend to stay away from playing online.

However it should be fairly big, there are 2 tracks famous for drifting (Irwindale & Ebisu) as well as the Nevada Freight Warehouse which was made for drifting. There is also supposedly a drifting tutorial as well as it's own race discipline in career mode.

The online drifting, for me, was either a lot of "hurry up and wait" or a lot of lagging.

Sugo is also a D1GP official track I think. And there's a Touge track too on Shift 2 to drift on.
i dont play online neither so cant really tell.

I am actually hoping that S2U will have a big drifting community since I will be most likely focusing on this online.

My impressions of Shift 2

First tutorial time trial / race: Steering feels wrong, helmet cam is annoying.

After a few recommended settings changed: "Games actually good! I'm gonna have lots of fun with this!"

*tries drift mode* "The 🤬 is this 🤬!"

Someone please tell me there's a way to fix this. It can't honestly be that bad.

Drifting with a wheel is insane. You cant feel anything. I wonder if anyone of the devs has ever tried it. I believe they only tested it with a pad.

They should've just left everything untouched (physics, car settings, etc) and have a drift mode similar to GT5, where the only difference is the point counter.

Why a drift mode? I have no problem drifting a car with appropriate tyres and enough hp in GT5.

Well that's basically what I'm saying. But there's always those that like having a point system. They shouldn't modify the physics or car setup for you.

The drifting in Shift 1 was TERRIBLE. From what I have heard the drifting is still just as bad in Shift 2. I will rent Shift 2 eventually but after playing Shift 1, I had no interrest in Shift 2. It always felt like an arcade racer that wanted to be a sim.

Haha, I tried the drifting school. I don't know how long it took me to get the points in the figure eight. When the tyres get hot, it feels like the snap oversteer is scripted. The car does a 180° spin with 10 km/h even with the slightes push on the throttle.

There is something very wrong.

Not to mention that I don't feel the tyres starting to slip. Can not feel the weight transfer...

The drifting in Shift 1 was bad, but there was a trick to it. Once you picked it up, it could be quite fun. I'm not sure that I'd call it realistic in any fashion, but it was interesting.

Wait, so the drifting is actually really bad? It doesn't feel real at all, not enjoyable, impossible to get right no matter what you do (even for experienced drifters)?

Does this help?

I don't drift. Just trying to help here and because i don't see details on what car is being used, just make sure it goes above 500hp.

[edit] now videos are show (no link) and before anyone asks, the second is made using the replay and youtube features that's why the hands don't move - bug?[/edit]
