hello, i am new to GT Planet.
I have read some topics on how to drift in GT4, and i am trying to improve at it.
i can get my 83 corolla sideways, but only for a few seconds, and i eas off the gas and tap the brake, sometimes this works and most times the car does a violent 180 and rams into the wall. How i usually drift is go into the turn and turn in hard then out, or i just full throttle it over. when i do that thecar drifts nicley but i can't seem to get out of it. i think the endings are the worst. I've noticed drifting in GT4 is alot differnt that in other titles such as NFS Underground 2, wher you could yank the e-brake, full throttle it and go wang out around a corner. any help with getting out of the drifts would be apeciated.

Okay, it's great that you've noticed a difference between GT and NFS :)

So your main problem it seems, is snap oversteer. ("...and most times the car does a violent 180 and rams into the wall.")

This means that you have too much countersteer, so when the front wheels grip, this sends you straight into the wall. This is "easy" to fix because you just use less countersteer, but harder to fix because it takes some practice.

Welcome to GTP, and MAKE SURE that you check around this forum for drifting advice. Much help has already been posted here, and so you can find it by using the search function on forums. Good car settings can be found here aswell.

For further help, go to the videos section of the drifting forum and download the "drifting for pro" videos by mike le chat noir.

Because you're starting out, use only standard(N#) tires. They make it much easier. Then gradually increase the tire quality if you wish, or stay with N# tires. I say this because they make it incredibly easy to drift.

There are different techniques aswell to GT drifting, so search for those aswell.

Above all, have fun. If you're getting frustrated, then you should do something else because nobody is good at drifting when they are in a bad mood.

Couldnt of said it better my self. I love the GTPlanet Members. They're just so welcoming. Ive been here fore like 2-3 years and it never changes. (Tear*)

Just keep it smooth and you'll do fine. You have to feel the wheel and if you let it go neutral feeling you will snap back very quickly. Keep it turning into the turn, but not so much that you spin out. This game, drifts tend to straighten themselves out if your smooth.

Also learn to fient initiate ALOT. You know yank the car back and forth before the turn then balance it out sideways through the turn. ;)

i still have the same problem i use to much countersteer, but sometimes when i dont counter steer the car heads straight into the wall for example. right turn coming up i slow down a bit tap ebrake whip it out then sometimes the car will head straight and when i countersteer it gives it a little bit more distance then it 180s. can anyone help me?
