Drifting Problems That I'm having

Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum and also new to drifting
in GT3.

But, I am having some problems. I fixed a couple
of issues that Ive read on some other sites such as:
use sim tires
don't do weight reduction

I'm drifting (or trying to drift) a honda S2000

I usually make it half way into the corner before
I hit oversteer or smash into the outside wall.

------------------------
Now, here is what im doing to "atempt" a drift.

Before entering a corner I hit the e-brake, sharply turn
into the corner, down shift, turn the wheels the other
direction and begin to control the throttle through out the
corner.

I've read the guide on this forum and I gladly appreciate that
but I'm still lost... I know squat about cars... I just love the hell
outta this game.

I do alot better with video tutorials but there are non except for
GT5.

I'd gladly appreciate it if some one can help me out lol

I'm still confused how to enter the corner correctly.

Thank you guys for helping me.

Welcome to GTPlanet!

You don't need the e-brake to drift in GT3, it's used mostly as an angle correcter.
Try starting off with an AE86 with nothing but sim tires, and go to Complex String and run a few laps. It'll teach you how to control the slide since it has low power. And try it without the e-brake.

Brake and turn at the same time and that will set the car up into a nice slide, you have to get right back on the gas though to continue it throughout the corner.

After you can get some good, smooth drifts in the 86, then move up to your S2000. 👍

Posting a video will also help greatly if you are still having trouble.

okay, just a quick noob question LOL
when applying the brakes, do you hit the brakes
while on the throttle? or let off the gas then brake, and gas it?

Sorry if its a dumb question...

I only 2-foot it, (gas and brake at the same time.) when the car is oversteering and I'm going for speed.

For drifting you want to hit the brakes, and then go right to the gas.

And it helps your control if you change the settings so that the right analog stick is the gas and brake.

And the only dumb question is the one that isin't asked. :)

try use mazda rx7 fd stock with sim tire and buy trans mission u need to closed ratio do do a long drift.. actually in gt3 te drift is quite easy use feinto ( search on youtube )

yup agree with you e-brake to make rear car loose grip and control aka balance between throttle n steering..

Its crazy to see how much of a science this is, especialy
from a game. I am very impressed. I "kinda" starting to get
the hang of things in my 86. but a problem that I'm having
is getting the tires to spin when I hit the brakes. Is there a
preffered setting? and sorry to keep asking, but what excatly
is a closed ratio. You are referring to the gear settings... right?

Yes, that means the gearbox.
And with the 86 since you have so little power you have to go straight to the gas after braking to continue the slide.
If you are having trouble with keeping the slide up, but are able to get into the slide on entry, try giving the car more power. 200hp should be good for the 86 after a bit.

Thank you guys for the help, after spending about 5 hours Im starting to get
the hang of it. As of right now, I'm having issues following through the corner.
I can usually finish about 80% on good run. I'm practicing on Deep Forest.
Thats my favorite map. I've done a good 60 laps there. I'm using a 240sxK
and I'm loving it. Im just having problems on the first bend and the very last one.
That really long one. I can't get the weight to shift properly in order to drift.

Try an inertia drift.
If the turn goes to the left then, start in the middle of the track, turn right, and then brake and turn to the left, it'll help get the drift going.
This type of drift will take a bit of timing to get right though, just keep practicing, it sounds like you've gotten better so far. 👍

And no problem. :)

No problem. :)
And I look forward to the video. 👍

And this is some pretty good drifting.

There are some setups in the GT3 thread that you should try out.

Edit:
And as you can see from this video, 4WD drifts can be a lot more aggressive, it's really fun to take a Lancer and have it do a really nice rally style drift with the thing just pinned.

that's dope! I give my self a couple weeks until I'm "average" HOPEFULLY
I've searched here on the forum and I was looking forward to seeing this
video tittled "GT3 Drift Bible" but the link was dead.
