drifting tight corners

I'll tell you what I do... I don't know if it's "cheating" or not, I don't know since I'm still a newb, but I use E-brake. I feint, and immediately after the drift begins, I E-Brake to five me immediate angle, and if I need more, just E-brake again, but do it quickly. Just tap it. One thing... keep the throttle going to keep you from losing your much needed RPM. BTW, someone please tell me if this is "cheating"...

there is nothing wrong with E-brake drifting. it has really come in handy whenever i get understeer, or not enough weight transfer. hell, i use the e-brake on really tight courses...

Whew, I thought E-Brake drifting was looked down on (it is by myself most of the time), but today I realized that it's the only way my 471 HP G35 can make it through hairpins and tight curves...

handbrake is good great for braking traction on tight corners at low speed, especially if your car won't just power oversteer easily (in slower cars).

Yeah, e-brake works, but to me its not the best way through a harpin. (you should only use e-brake if you absolutely have to) What works better is to feint up to the corner while braking, keep it in a high enough gear to have control over your weel spin, and keep constant resistance on the steering (i.e. don't give in to temptation and overcorect).
Wheelspin is the enemy in low speed corners on this game, due to the "no donuts" physics engine. You want just enough to get oversteer, but not so much that you loose your speed or actually create understeer. (a strange but common event) If you get that understeer, turn hard and e-brake the s*** out of it. Other than that, only use the e-brake if you need it to create the feint.

Oh, yeah and your problem is likely that you're getting too much wheel spin and creating understeer or getting too much angle and loosing your speed as a result. (the determining factor for which one that actually happens is your steering input)
You have to think outside the box in this game, wheelspin doesn't always mean oversteer.
Hope that helps.

im having a hard time drifting a hair pin turn with a high horse power engine. any advice?

I had this very same problem and I got over it myself, I got advise from someone that helped too, I just can't remember who they are.. oops.

Basically tight corners are hard because you're drifting at a reduced speed, You need to keep the rear wheels spinning without oversteering too much or loosing speed.

Here's the 2 things that work for me depending on how tight the tight bend is.

1. 2nd gear, around 50% gas, watch the countersteer in this gear, too much will have you regain grip and whip off the the outside tyre wall...

2. 3rd gear, slightly more power around 75% should be good. Also again, watch the countersteer here...

Both of these techniques need control, be gentle with the car on tight turns, a small change in steering/gas makes a big change to the car at ower speeds.

I don't like to use hand brake for tight bends as I feel it takes away precious speed, I prefer later harder breaking and a slight feint to get the car sideways,

Everyones giving big explanations. all i can say is PRACTICE aswell.

But how i tackle them, is hard sway , come into the corner on large angle, then ease the throttle all the way through, keeping yourcountersteer even so you dont spin out. pretty simple really

I think the problem is the physics of that game. Every car is understeering so hard that you can't drift tight corners. Also, you can't do donuts.

lol, I noticed that too, the donuts I mean, I tried it out and all you get is a 180 and then you kinda turn normally with wheelspin... lol...

The e-brake is in common use on tarmac rallyes. I see it all the time here on TV when the national open tournament is held. Dutch rallies are mainly preformed on tight roads on dykes. These corners have also very very tight hairpins like the ones on Costa di Almafi. They use the e-brake all the time! Too bad GT4 isn't that realistic in that way...
