hello, i am a new member here! when i try to drift on those sharp turns like the sharp turn in apricot hill or the one in grand valley i always either start losing traction when i have exited the turn or i lose traction at the right time but that will make the car slide to the grass on the outside. i drift by braking to the right speed to enter the turn and then slam the brakes and then slam the throttle to lose traction. what am i doing wrong? the car i use is a trueno, the setup is all stock, i am using simulation tyres and i have 260 hp

Okay. In sharp corners you're going to have to be much more precise with your throttle and steering control. Slamming on the gas or brake isn't going to cut it. If you're sliding into the grass, you're either going too fast or your line is off. Also, try staying to the very outside of the corner at the entrance. It works for me. :D Beyond that, just practice.

ok, thanks! i have another question, in the videos, the cars start going sideways before they even go in te turn, and it looks so good! how do they lose traction so fast? i am using simulation tyres but i still need to feint to lose traction

All stock eh?
Your parts setup could be causing more problems than you think.
The harder you upgrade, the further up the rpm range the powerband is moved, so you lose that lower rpm torque and in turn; response. Also, the stock 86 has an open differential, if you haven't yet noticed that one wheel keeps spinning and spinning even after you've left the corner.

You might consider learning how to properly grip drive and how to tune your car to become faster instead of more powerful. The easiest way to learn is to go beat arcade mode and do Free Run on the various tracks with the arcade cars. Learn how cars are supposed to handle, then get into tuning in Sim mode. It's all about laps, man. Laps and more laps. Just try to get a faster time than your fastest lap. It's a blissfully simple and endless cycle of progression.

Drifting is just...

:)

yes i just tried to tune the setup.. it takes a damn long time to tune it in gt2.. is gt3 the same?

hehe.. not to argue with you but i know grip driving.. iv played in the arcade cd for a year before putting in the simulation cd.. (i didnt have a memory card) and just to blow myself up i drive properly.. proper driving line.. trottle or brakeing control.. :p

and another question, i read in an article somewhere that you could put in a one way differential to make it lose traction better.. i used it and it seemed to really suck, then i tried the 2 way differential and i stuck with it.. it seems to give better results.. is a one way really better or what

Make sure you control the angle so that you continue to produce oversteer because its a sharp corner. (Don't be too quick to countersteer, let the car turn in more)

1. On the enterance drift enough not to spin out..
2. Continue pushing through at the drift angle
3. Midway through the corner, push harder and straighten the wheel more to get more oversteer.
4. now you have set up your angle for the exit.

Ray, all the differentials have different characteristics.
The ideal choice is the Full Customize one because it lets you set the characteristics accordingly. Whether grip driving or drifting.

I've been playing GT3 since before it was sold as a package with the PS2 and I'm only JUST learning how to become faster.

Oh.. ****...

Are you talking about Gran Turismo 2?

yep im talking about grand turismo 2.. i just used one of the setups.. and with a little more tuning i got it right.. i did around 40 laps on apricot hill since monday and i think i got the weight transfer thing right, i can do drifts and still follow the driving line! i am getting better every day :D

Yay!
Reality will hit you like a starving homeless man when you move onto the next game
in the series, which, I might add, has been available for over 3 years.

GT2 and GT3 have two distinct differences.

1. GT2 is a game.
2. GT3 is a simulation.

The latter being the reason why people take GT3 so seriously.
