remember to turn off the TCS and ASM .

And to put on Sims! Those are the two most important points. Sims and turn of ASM and TCS

Yep, just about everyone's reply is right on target on what is needed to drift with bone stock cars. With good technique it's not difficult once you know a car's given limits. I have drifted a Silvia S13 and S14 bone stock and also a RX-7 FD, a Z06 Corvette is also a good car to work with if you know what you're doing too, that's just me though about the vette.

So yes, a number of us can drift with bone stock cars, as everyone said, have on sims, and to turn off ASM and TCS.

Sorry if I somehow sounded like an echo... till later...

Welcome to GTP...

Please refrain from using lazy shortcuts when typing... (i.e. "plz". "u") Not everyone here speaks english as their first language, so for their sake, please try to type as clearly as possible...

Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the "Acceptable use policy" and "terms of service"... Also, take a look at "common sense rules for posting"...

To answer your question, yes... In fact, that is how I learned how to drift in GT3... It really teaches you to use technique over power, which ultimitely makes you a more rounded and adaptable drifter...

;)

some cars are pretty hard to drift stock... lotus espirit, for example =p so not all cars are as easily drifted.

4WD's, I don't think, can be drifted stock. I tried really hard using a 4WD Celica GT-FOUR with my normal basic mods (~300 HP, minor drive train mods, sims) and I could not get it sideways at all. I had to tinker a bit with the LSD before I could get it somewhat close to sideways action. I never did finish it.

If you're just getting into drifting, I'd recommend light drivetrain mods like the Carbon Drive Shaft, Double Plate Clutch, and Sports Flywheel. Weight Reduction helps too, I usually just go up to level 2. These mods don't make you overly reliant on power but they make the car more responsive and less error-prone.

im gonna open up a pandoras box here (since i dont know how to open a new forum) who's better wrc drivers or drifters my vote goes to wrc drivers as many of the so called drifter moves like 4 wheel drifting and inertia drifting that drifters claim to have invented are rallying techniques used before most drifters were born such as the interia drift a.k.a scandanvian flick :scared:

im all for WRC drivers...
(back to the topic) its very much possible drifting stock MR, FR, and AWD. FF's are pretty much useless drifting, because its way faster around the corner than instead sliding it.

i think the sim tires are out of the picture from the question (although it IS a good idea) but i think its easy enough to drift a car bone stock while the ASM and TCS are turned off.

what if you werent allowed to change ur TCS or ASM

Then it would be much more difficult to keep your tires spinning. Remember, the TCS actually cuts power from the engine when it detects tire slippage. So drifting with the TCS on is just about the most counterproductive thing you can do. The ASM "Decides" that you car is somewhat out of control and will acutally use brakes to stabailze the car.

As you can see, having the TCS and/or ASM turned on while drifting is just not a smart way to learn to drift. I guess it would be possible, but why put yourself through all that headache and hassle?

Yes it would be a hassle; the only way I can think of to drift with TCS/ASM on is to transfer all the weight into the direction of your drift. In any case you would not want to do this if you want to learn as Swift has said. But if you were in a situation where you had to drift it would be in a race, and you want to be entering a turn as fast as possible so you don't end up losing to much speed as you lose grip in you rear tires, as the TCS/ASM kick in.

drifting bone stock i do it all the time all i do is turn off asm/tcs and im ready to hit the track even if u put on sims it really wont be stock whould it

its all about waight transfer :) and proper break acc times, because no matter what you have to know when the tcs will start to kick in, so make your going fast, and only IF you have to pull the good old e-break if you almost at the end of the turn if you want that little more slide.
