Has anyone else noticed this...

To be clear I'm only talking about circuit racing, not rally sections.

GT3, dead difficult to drift.

GT3 Concept, dead easy. Skyline was hilarious fun :)

GT4 Prologue, even with the assists turned off there is either asm or traction control going on there, you have to do silly things to get the car sideways and it's a real effort to get any decent drift going on...

I'd be very interested in hearing what you guys think.

I actually own an MR2 MK2 which has been drifting with me, so I have an idea how things feel for real.

Cheers!

i can only say im not sure if have the same game i have:)...with any car in gt4p if u break before a turn and then turn in and let off the break the car breaks out and with the higher hp road cars (aka M5, etc) jst giving it some gas makes it break out...i put a lot of cars through various drifts in real life and i have to say that gt4p gets unbelievably close to the real life behaviour of cars in these situations...the race cars arent supposed to break out cuz it takes away time jst the way the suspension is tuned makes it harder already but i find gt4p very drift friendly:)

I'm pretty sure that GT4P is about the most realistic game out there when it comes to the way the cars behave. The making-off DVD, which comes with it, also kinda gives you a nice insight.

Anyways, haven't tried doing a lot of drifting except with the M5, which is just plain fun.

Hmm, I've been racing mostly with 'normal' tyres, so I'll do a bit more research with, other cars and tyres. Thanks for your thoughts though. Noticed people in another thread similar to this one agreeing with me about the traction control though. As I said before I have no doubt that GT4P has the best physics ever, it just feels like the car is reigning your slides in a bit, meaning it's hard to hold the drift. It's easy to launch the back end out in a bit of oversteer, but I'm talking about long, controlled tyre shredding drifts :) the kind where you can almost smell the smoke!

I have to say... if you haven't got it yet... get the M5...

That is every drifting fans dream... actually it would be if it had better brakes!!

But the rear end steps out and is just so easy to gracefully slide round the bends!

MMMmmmmm!
