I figure the only way to do this is to sneak the car into the country by dropping the car off in mexico, slapping some AZ plates on there to drive it across the border just slap a dealer tag on the car to drive around. Problem soved! Now all I need is to get some dealer tags.....the theory is sound, but you'd still have to get the car through customs illegally, and by driving it in this country even on a dealer tag you'd still be breaking federal law.

ok?, why dont you just move out of the US to japan, australia, new Zealand or UK?

Can't you import one from say the UK? I mean Doug was able to import a Lanica Delta, so I don't see how different that is from doing it with an R33 or R34 skyline.

Becasue UK crash test standards are different than US ones and so are emissions standards. Its not the country it comes from it's the car itself.

So you have a skyline? Because it says all you need is a dealer tag.

No I meant "you" as in a generalization, The dealer tags I can get no problem I'ts the sklyine part that I'm working on :)

I'm sure if a cop saw you pull up next to him in a Skyline he wouldn't do anything to you. Where would you actually get into trouble?

Don't quote me on this, but Im under the impression that JDM cars can be registered as street legal as dealer cars. Signal Auto, I believe, has several JDM Silvias that they can drive on the streets.

Well if you get pulled over for speeding and they check your car... youll be in deep trouble.

Well just becuase u have a skyline i dont see why u gutta fly around at like 160 100 is ok. And u dont see cops arresting people in lambos or ferraris just becuase its fast or loud.

 First off, welcome to GTPlanet.net i hope you have a good time here.

Did I say since you have a Skyline you have to speed? No! Did i say 160mph? No. I said speeding as in going 10mph over the speedlimit. You can be going 50mph and speed, if you are in a school zone which is limited at 15mph, that is still consider speeding. 80mph in a 55mph zone is speeding also, you would most likely get a ticket. Everyone get tickets if they drive faster than the speed limit more than 10mph. My dad recently got a ticket for 85mph in a 65mph zone.

100mph would be speeding in any US road, since most highways are 65mph/70mph. That would still be consider speeding.

Cops arrest any body who speed, they dont care if its a Geo Metro or a Ferrari as long as they speed the cops will pull them over.

Summary

I was saying most people speed, not alot stay within the speed limit. I was just saying if he got caught speeding (not like going 160MPH like 85 in a 55 zone) he would get in so much trouble.

I cant even respond to this message..

uhh....you can buy a skyline at any number of shops in LA, they're not legalized and you can pick up an R32 GT-s for around 8 g's with around 50k miles on the odo...my friend did that and hasn't had any trouble with the cops, he just obeys all the traffic laws.

Uh-huh, yeah, and when they run the plates and find that it doesn't belong to that car, or that the car is not registered and that he sdriving with no insurance since he cant insure it, he can have fun in jail while the police have fun crushing his car. Dealer plates is the only way around.

Only $8000 USD? No way man you must be kidding me right?

They're cheaper than that in Japan.
Remeber, there're just used cars over there. It's not like you're dealing with an Enzo or Carrera GT.

No but last time i checked they were bout 30,000 and all but then again it might be because those were gtr's well do these people have a site cause i would like more info on this you know because next time we buy a car i can tell my dad bout this :D .

Yes, but that was probably for a legalized Skyline by MotoRex or some such company, which jacks up the price quite a bit.

EDIT: Good luck getting your dad to buy a Skyline.

 he would never considering its a "SPORTS CAR" (He says too much insurance becuase he would pay so i gotta go for someting with 4 doors and automatic for now

So would the cops be able to catch you if you buy the car then just use it as a daily driver without speeding?
