Okay, just waking up to this - not even downloaded yet. I'm not sure why, but I had to laugh at the windscreen wipers working away during the selection screen. Very nice touch detail-wise.

I'm kind of disappointed that the snow will always melt. I was hoping that if it was snowing, eventually the track would be covered in snow, but it appears that the snow will always melt.

And checking the temperature on the tracks in Norway, the lowest temperature I could create was 0.8 degree Celsius.

I ve never been that floored by any game graphics before, ever. Except the first time I stopped my horse at the great cliff at Sunset in Red Dead Redemption, overlooking the Colorado and Mexico, maybe.

The snow storm and the lightning though. Driving that fast in the snow makes my eyes hurt. The concentration it will require to stay on track at those speeds is mind boggling. Looking for to this tonight!!

Weather and a McLaren F1 LM. Don't care what anyone says, I'm enjoying DC more and more every time I play it. Thank god the people who were whining and moaning about the game "only" running at 30 FPS didn't get their way, because otherwise these amazing weather effects probably wouldn't be possible.

I can't wait to get some time with the weather update and to give the 599XX a spin

I only had time for a couple of laps on three tracks earlier whilst seeing what photomode makes of all this. On dynamic, each lap is so different - another great touch. It's going to take me until after Christmas to discover/try out all tracks and stages like this 👍

I need to confirm this later, but I think with the rain/snow they removed the real-time dynamic shadows your headlights cast. I imagine they still do when it's not rain-/snowing.

EDIT: I was wrong.

The only criticism I have is the lack of spray, other than that it is possibly the most impressively gorgeous weather effects I've seen in any game I've owned.
To be honest, more spray would ruin the gameplay, the visibility is extreme enough already.
Best weather effects I have ever seen in realtime in a videogame, Evolution Studios should get a tech award.
The water effects on the windshield are just incredible, never expected it to be so.damn.good.

stupid question of the day how do i turn on the wipers :banghead::grumpy:
They go on automatically.

I haven't had a chance to play it since I downloaded the update but looking at the clips you guys are posting, it does look good however DC has stiff competition when it comes to weather with Project CARS. For those of you that haven't seen it, its also impressive, especially since there's at least 7-8 types of weather to choose from, although no snow. That being said, I'm glad DC keeps adding more content and features, its starting to feel like the game we should have had all along.

Glad to see the Corvette being added too, needed some variety other than just Euro cars.

Project CARS' weather system pales in comparison. The setup in pCARS is a bit more detailed,
but it doesn't look as good by far. DRIVECLUB is on a completely different level, visually.

I'll find out today when I play DC. Good to hear opinions though.

Something that I noticed this morning while shooting, is that the water spray from the tires is actually textured. Not just some generic particle effect like GT, but there's actually a texture within it.

The detail they've added to this game is mind blowing. Everyone who still rags on it is just stupid.

Just compare it with the footage above, not even close.

Not the best example video and of course Project CARS is still in development and still not a final product but on my PC I'd say Project CARS weather looks better to me. I got to play DC for about an hour today and while the weather effects look good, it just doesn't look as good to me as Project CARS. When Project CARS is released, I think a lot of people are going to have their minds blown. Its the most photorealistic game to date at least on the PC at very high graphic settings. Its my opinion, of course some others will disagree.

Opinion or not, you can't really compare a PC game using high-end graphics settings with one on a console, not if you want to be fair.

I agree with you there but I don't have a console version of Project CARS to compare it to yet. It could very well look worse on consoles than DC, no one knows yet.

I suppose we'll have to wait that one out then until the eventual release.

In the meantime, I'm sure you've all seen that the pre-race screen (the one before the succession of track views) now reflects the weather conditions and time chosen. The car list also fades out after a short while of inactivity - whilst not as diverse as the in-garage photomode, it is quite handy for some different shots of your selected car.
