I hired this out on DVD today because I never got a chance to see it at the cinema. Anyway, I never thought I'd like it too much because Formula 1 isn't usually my thing. But, I must say - it kicked arse - especially when the person flipped it, then got smacked by another F1 and went flying out of the track in into a river. I know, fake - but still! :eek:
 
That movie sucked balls.. BAD :grumpy:

edit: Sorry.. That was as subtle as I could be on that movie (o whatever it is)
 
I did like it when stallone...picked up the quarters...and the rookie only saw three of them, but he picked up all four.

Alos, I really enjoyed the part when they took the cars through the streets of Chicago...zoom zoom
 
I missed that one on purpose. At first, I thought it would be F1 cars. Then it was CART...after I saw the first movie ad, I thought I may just catch it on video. After watching a few more ads, I thought I'd catch it on an airplane. After I read the reviews, I thought...no thanks. Something tells me I'll catch it on TV about 5 years from now on a rainy day.

Auto racing and movies just don't mix. Watch a documentary instead, or just watch a race or two.

Heard the same sort of things about this as well
aint watched this movie yet (if at all) and what i have heard isnt complemetory such as the crashes mentioned above, or having a rookie driver leading the champioship and then gets the flick with a couple of races to go?!? just wouldnt happen in R/L

While on the topic, anyone seen a piece of drivel call R.P.M? absolute bucket of bollocks

Not exactly true :) Did you ever see Le Mans with Steve McQueen ?... That's a piece of movie history ....
 
The only reason you should watch that movie is to listen to the announcers reactions to some of the crashes....cars are flippin over, flyin 40 feet in the air, blowin up, and the announcers act like its an everyday occurance. "whoa would you look at that!!" hahaha

All i have to say is that its a good movie to take your girlfriend to go see. :)

This movie was simply dreadful. I should have been honest about it and bought the CART season review video from 1999.

I could list all the things that were wrong with it, but I'd be here all day, so I won't bother.

The computer graphic crashes were really good, and I really liked the way they mixed genuine race footage with movie footage, and I liked spotting stars (anyone else see Jean Alesi?), but the plot was mince, Stallone wouldn't even be able to get into a regular CART car!

All the action sequences where there are two drivers racing and they're supposed to be exchanging meaningful looks, and then accelerating that little bit harder were just laughable, and the street racing thing? Any one of those manhole covers would have ripped off the rear diffuser, and the car would be heading straight to the scene of the accident.

It was a horrible horrible movie. Woeful in fact.

And the girl was a bit of a dog!

It was originally going to be F1, but Stallone pulled out, blaming Ecclestone. Not that I've seen the film, but I wonder if it was because Bernie finally got round to reading the script.

Just get Super Speedway. At least it has tons of trick footage and you get some inside views on how to build a Cart racer :)

Yes. That works. But movies like Le Mans and Grand Prix were made in 1970 and 1966, respectively. You can't make movies like that any more; the auto racing world is a little too big to allow movie producers inside and safety procedures come first. (Steve McQueen was a racer himself; 2nd overall at Sebring around that time was quite impressive...)

Making auto racing a sideshow for some deep plot just doesn't fly. The hardcore racing fan doesn't buy into the crap; it's hard to make an uninterested fan start to turn to something new like racing when the plot is thin an unrealistic.

However, sometimes it's all in the marketing, and the right opportunity to do so. Days of Thunder came out in the summer of '90; about 5 years before the big NASCAR boom and wasn't that big a hit. Had it come out later on, it might have been a little more sucessful. The time for a CART movie was 10 years ago, when the series and fan base was doing quite alright...
 
it's just a pathetic work from -shamed to say- FINNISH director Renny Harlin... he hasn't make any good movies after Cliffhanger... he should quit the business.... just non-good movie.... :irked:

And Cliffhanger wasn't that great, either.
 
about the only things I liked were the wrecks adn the scene where they take the cars onto the city streets....one thing I dont get tho....they took and drove those cars on the city streets breaking all sorts of laws and all that happend was thay got fined....WTF is up with that?....If I tried half that crap I'd be in jail....somtimes movies are TOO fake....
 
whick reminds me...F&F....the ass end of the import world....to many posers now....truly sad.....I expect once the 2nd one comes out to see nothing but neon lights for the next year or so.....truly sad....
 
Plus how the hell did they start the Champ cars without a pit crew with starter motor:confused:
 
I'm not exactly sure why, but i did like that movie. Maybe it was the quarter trick......
