I just heard a week late about this. Subaru Rally Team drivers Mark Lovell and Roger Freeman were killed in a crash on 12 July 2003.

This is terrible news. I'm a perrenial fan of the Subaru WRC Racing team, and I was just reading about Lovell in a recent issue of SCC. This post needs more replies. Deepest condolences to the families of Lovell and Freeman.
 
I read of this last week - not much else to say really. I think they were former Britsh Rally champions.

The bizarre thing was that it was like the first stage of the first day.

Has there been any other news on the accident? It must have been a monumental for both guys to be killed.

An awful thing.
 
It's been a dry, white season for soob :( first possum and then this.

They were killed on the same weekend as the Goodwood festival as speed. Their pictures were on display alongside the other factory Subaru drivers at their stand. The whole area fell quiet when the news came through.
 
strange...never really gave it any thought, but a friend from work met Mark Lovell at one of the first showings of the Impreza ST-i here in California not too long ago...he will definetely be missed..my condolences to his family and friends.
 
My condolences to relatives and family of Lovell and Freeman. . . I am still in shock and only have read about it. I have not seen any pictures, but apparently from what I am understanding they hit a tree in the first stage of Oregon. . . Is there any word on how it happened. . . I am truly sad and gloomy since I read this yesterday, it sucks to see one of your own lose their life in the same sport. :(
 
:( poor guys, at least our hearts are with them, its really just too bad that happened. get a couple guys having hella fun driftin every corner and look what happend.. R.I.P Subaru Team
 
I actually just heard about this yesterday becuase espn2 was showing the last race that they competed in(and also won)which was at Pikes Peak, and at the end it said that they crashed on their next race and died. It was a shock to me because you don't hear of many people dying in rally races. But I didn't see the crash either. They will be missed.
 
Yeah. It's a shame when things like this happen. It seemed liked it effected everyone there, especially Lagaman (sp?) and his co-driver, they couldn't continue. Hopefully this won't happen again. :(
