This is a simulator that is going to be very userfriendly with a built in torrent system to automaticly download files (cars track etc) that the server you are trying to connect to is currently running. I am one of 400 people lucky enough to become a tester. :)

there is an article on the sim in the april 2006 issue of autosimsport which can be downloaded here:tup:
http://autosimsport.teamssm.net/backissues.php

for comparison... opened up LFS, jumped in the mrt and gave it an open diff and the feeling is very similar to the 1800cc in this game. Funny how two games that have realism being one of the main focuses end up feeling so similarly. of course the mrt is lighter and smaller so its not quite the same along with other things... it makes me wonder just how complex the physics modeling is compared to lfs. but that's not the focus right now...

here are some screenshots. right now the devs are focused on getting the netcode and uploading/downloading running smoothly. so these are rather pointless but oh well.
images are compressed

yes. custom cars and tracks. :) its supposed to support every type of car motorsport. rally to prototype racing to gocarts

read the autosimsport article :) page 13-18 i think. it explains alot

any of u guys want an invite to the testing? only ask me if your videocard supports pixelshader 2.0

the track lime rock has been added to the test

You'll want to double chack that incase an invite get's wasted.

I had a couple of problems setting up my DFP, but I've got it sorted now. But I can only look left, not right with the d-pad.

Overall, promising game, but you do need to remember that this demo is a test of the net code and file sharing methods, not the game itself.

Please send me an invite. My card supports PixelSahder 2.0 (it's a FX5700).

erm, dunno what it supports, but i know that LFS and NFSHS, and Driver run OK while NFSU2 experiences severe LAG...

I wouldnt mind an invite, gonna be fun trying to steer with a/d, I dont have a wheel :)

Anyone know if there is/will be mouse steering support? If so count me in.
Yeah I can do PS 2.0 just fine.

Good thing,i'm addicted to LFS drifting, but i think this will be better(always wanted to drift a trueno etc. in LFS,so this is gonna be good)

Why is there only one room on!?

Ok just finished a race.

This is on the same level as LFS. The cars feel like they're meant to believe it or not!

Oversteer is catchable, understeer is good. Man I'm in love with this.

I played it straight after I came back from karting and the similarities are spooky. Only need now are peripheral vision =/

Oh and the beta limit has been reached.

Tenacious D
Hrm... fantasy cars and tracks, no offline racing... meh.

With fantasy cars like this - I think I might give it a shot at some point. (Blatantly assuming a public beta will be around at some point)

I shouldn't sound so dissy about it. This does sound like what Live For Speed should be. I'm assuming the game will perform a lot better than a hobby build. Being able to build a car from part elements is what some of the guys here on the boards have been clamoring for. But as I expected, you won't be able to put a cool suspension with a cool transmission, driven by a cool engine in a cool chassis, and expect to have a magic car. But the potential for budding car designers is tremendous, and having your elements "patented" in the D.R. database would give those guys some worldwide notoriety.

the formula ford is a real car. and Lime Rock park is a real track. the game will have real cars and real tracks

please... -_- do some research before you type

if you read the autosimsport article you would know alot more about the game.

you will also be able to design your own car and car parts and then offer them online for other people to use in building their own cars. I could design a certain type of chasis if i want and there will be standard parts offered as well as user designed parts.

I'll take an invite. 6800XT Here. Definetly PS2 capable.

I repeat, the beta limit has been reached.

Oh, and the lead programmer is the guy that did RBR so we know we're in good hands!

This looks pretty badass, thanks for the info. 👍

With custom cars and tracks, kinda reminds me of Racer. Hopefully, it's easier to get stuff installed in this than Racer. While a good idea, getting crap in was a pain in the arse and it barely ran well.

Looking forward to Driver's Republic.:)

I would love an invite, I just checked, and yes my Radeom 9600 does support SmartShader 2.0, which I am led to believe is ATI-talk for PixelShader. 👍 Looks great! 👍

-edit-
I just saw that the beta limit has been reached, I didn't read properly

Well, reading the article TWICE now, I have this to share with you:

ASS: How about licensed cars or tracks, or will there be any included? If not, what type of cars or tracks can we expect in the initial release?

Eero: We haven't licensed any cars or tracks. And it's not really designed for any specific type of vehicles, but circuit racing with open wheelers is what we have concentrated on so far.

So, research... yeah... :D

they are gathering data on the formula ford so i guess its to blame on me providing a dated article:dunce:

if all the specs are exactly the same as a real car but the name isnt, and it looks almost exactly the same..., does that really matter?

thatis 4 lashes to the back for me

:ouch:
