I've been thinking about this lately, hopefully we don't already have a thread for this. One question:

Given an unlimited budget, what drivetrain swap project would you like to build?

In all honesty, I really would like to put an EVO X drivetrain into a new Eclipse and make a new-age GSX. May be pointless, but it sure as heck would be cool.

Anyone else?

Honestly, I think the Cobalt SS Supercharged's motor and tranny into a miata would be cool...

Or a 527 Big block sporting a twin screw blower going through a 4 wheel drive pickup

Sorry I don't have huge ideas

I'm not interested in unlimited budgets. What I am interested in is building a DC2 Integra powered by a midships-mounted K24 with a 6-speed.

Hmm, a Subaru boxer powered RWD Miata sounds great, but the frame rails are too skinny. Would need a tubular front end...

F22C swap in my car would be cool if only for being way different. Some tuner built a K-series powered S2000 lately, though I have no idea why.

I think that a "450Z" with an Infiniti 4.5L V8 would be really awesome, though I want that to be a factory car. It doesn't look like they make a 4.5L anymore. Though there is the 5.6L 420hp motor in the M56.

Unlimited budget pretty much just says "anything."

I'd take the BMW M5's 5.0L V10 and toss it into a Mustang GT. Yes, there is something wrong with me. But it'd fit!

I've been thinking a lot about dropping the entire front clip of a Neon SRT4 in a Ford Ka... engine, diff, trans...

Also, of course, a new gen HEMI stroker with two turbos in a 1970 Javelin with a 6-gear Tremec. And Minilites.

And a V12 something into something that doesn't have a V12.. but I have to think that out. Maybe an AMG or Brabus beast into a 300SL.

I know of someone currently swapping a 2JZ-GTE and drivetrain to make a RWD CRX Del Sol.
Del Slow? Not anymore!

Should make it MR. Then he could have this...

With an unlimited budget? Take 305ci Hudson straight six. copy every critical dimension. Make in aluminum. put dual overhead cam head and turbos on it. Drop into '51 Hornet chassis. Go sideways.

P.S.

NAPPA: Vegeta, what does the Scouter say about his Post Level?

VEGETA: It's over NINE THOUSAAAAND!

Given the money and skills, I would like to have a RS500 Sierra Cosworth with a midmounted Falcon XR6 Turbo motor with upgraded everything. Like a Clio V6 or the nutter group B hatches, but biggerer and betterer.

1st Gen Ford Focus with a current Gen Focus RS engine and Cosworth 4wd.

Current Mercedes 2.2 liter turbodiesel into a W124 (300E bodystyle) together with the 7GTronic transmission.

45mpg? Yes, thank you very much.

Current AMG 6.3 liter V8 into 190E 2.3 EVO. Oh yes.

93-97 Mercedes M104 engine (3.2 liter straight six) into a 1960s Mercedes 300SL.

Dodge Cummins Diesel into a 404 Unimog.

This can go on for days...

I've always wanted to do something with a 500 cubic inch Cadillac engine... maybe drop it in a Pinto or Vega and have some stupid-strong running street snorter.

Also, some really big and exotic motor in the mid/rear of a VW Karmann Ghia, then make it loog like the Hot Wheels toy of 2006:

A Zonda engine? a twin turbo Ferrari V12? a 6-71 blown Boss 429? a Viper V10?

Blown Hemi into a PT Cruiser.

Or mount the 2.5L V6 from a Ford Probe/Mazda MX-6 where the back seats are in my Escort.
