If you were ever in an OLR competition, you wouldn't drive like that more than once, either.
Yeah but guess what? He's NOT in an OLR competition. He's playing a video game, like everyone else here. And in a real OLR competition, might I venture to assume that one's opponents wouldn't ram into him simply because he happened to be driving in their pre-programmed race lines? No, didn't think so.

Bottom line, this is not reality, and the AIs make that painfully clear. Therefore, I do not think it is a sin to ram them, only a sin to make a habit of it.

One think i Hate about the AI drivers, they online take one line! and they always follow it no matter wut the situation is.

We've all been there. when your breaking hard. then opps u took the worng line. makeing u slow. as the AI cars comeing fast right behind u. then POW! hits u into the dirt. they leaset they could have done is go around.

They deserve to be hit! run off the road. not just for pleasure, but because they deserve it. 👍

Another point i'm trying to make, other then i've seen a simular thread like this before is, that GT4 AI, better take more then just one line every time u want to race! :dunce: yeah thats about it......
TOS
* No slang words that promote laziness, ie; "r", "u", "plz", etc.

* Half decent grammar is expected. Use of capital letters starting sentences is looked upon favorably. Spelling half decently is also encouraged.
DrIfteR, please do yourself a favor and avoid the AOL-speak like "U". It makes your posts hard to read, and it's against the rules and general quality level the staff likes to promote. Nobody's asking you to be a prizewinning novelist, but take a minute to proofread your posts so they're understandable. Thanks.

I'm not going to be priggish, I've had to hit an AI car that was holding be back from victory before. I try not to slam cars into the sand traps (Grand Valley has about 5 places you could send the AI reeling), but I try to race. There's a few times the AI suddenly boosts in a series, and so sometimes the AI gets what it deserves.

I don't like to hit them in most situations; I'd much rather outbrake, out corner, or outsmart the AI. On the other hand, GT3 doesn't really allow you to "drive defensively" throughout an entire race. You can lose a good deal of time (or the lead) to a 3rd-place car by trying to hold up the 2nd-place one. There's also other times you're hopelessly stuck in 6th place, so anything goes on the poor 5th-place car!

After all, it's just a game.

On Leguna Seca I hit the Mustang SVT on purpose, but it was to help it...It was stuck against the wall between the track and the entrance to the pit...just facing the edge, smoking itsa tires, for about three laps, I felpt sorry for it, and bumped it out...when it hit the first corner it went right back inot the sand though, tires were worn out !!!

pupik: exactly! I try to avoid them as much as I can, but in the same moment try my best not to crash into wall because of them. I just don't like them cheating, as it happens some times.

I've also been rammed from behind after outbraking AI for a sharp corner at SSR11 and Grand Valley. I'm 100% sure, that AI wouldn't make the corner with that speed ... Didn't like it one bit ...

Hey it's all good wanting 2 pass them clean but it's sometimes unavoidable like when i'm drifting in a race i try n not hit the poor fellas but hey were not perfect.
really who cares if ya hit them?? :sly: it' makes some more fun n the game n give it a longer "life span" .eg see if u can make the guy closest 2 u in the points come last or something n still win it's a good challenge.

There's two issues at hand here.

One of them is in a competition, where in nearly all cases I'm aware of contact with the AI is to be avoided at all costs.

The other is in general play of the video game...as long as you're not racing for an official comp, I see no issue with it.

In iLink (and any possible future OnLine racing with GT4) contact with competitors will undoubtably be frowned upon.

well, i never really crash into the AI, cus they suck at taking corners, or i'll hug the outside or inside and squeez past... but If im using an really underpowered car, like when i rally a SS trueno stock in the sim mode rally races, sometimes they ram me a little bit after the exit of high speed turns. Racing against AI is good practice for not crashing when racing against people (like in LFS, which i used to play regulary before my wheel broke :( ).

Exactly that is why you should try to avoid AI ... not at all costs but as much as possible - for training for any I-link game ...

thats what I do sometimes when losing. Ill sometimes speed up in a hairpin and go between the car in front of me crashing and still maintaining the corner. HEHE then ill go get a car wash 👍

We all have one time or another had to drive dirty in GT3.But I try not to do it . I used to do it but as you get older it gets boaring after a while

RX-7_FC_DrIfteR
just use dem as a wall so u get around faster :)
Thats what makes the game boaring. The object of a race is to challenge you driveing skill not how fast you can go around the the track!!

Um wait. I thought racing was about winning. Not some dumb display of "skillz". Driving dirty is lame but if you can drive, win AND due to your skill not hit anyone and have consitent clean laps then you are good.

But ya, in OLR, any contact with the AI or another driver is a no no. Same for walls.

well its had to demonstrate skill against a complete idiot AI, its not are felt where taken a certain line, that’s faster then there’s and u happen to hit them.... yeah I know what u mean in OLR, but sometimes its a accident and it can't be helped

I'm sorry, but I just didn't understand any of that...

ummm, I'm with you there. No clue what he/she is trying to say.

In OLR contact with other cars or walls (and having more than 2 wheels off the racing surface) is usually not allowed according to the rules. Sometimes though limited contact (i.e. "trading paint") is allowed, though not recommended, and always reviewed and judge by the race moderator. Though this sometimes requires judgement calls from the race moderator which is a pain so more often than not ANY contact is not allowed.

yes it happens accidently sometimes but in OLR if it happens, accident or not, your lap is voided.

I drive in the game like I drive in real life. I avoid any contact with any other car as much as possible. It is just a good thing to practice because if you do that online you will more than likely be kicked out of a room. Plus it just makes you a better driver. 👍
I have to admit your detailed description of what you did to that car did get me laughing pretty hard though.

I did it in GT2 all the time, but in GT3, only once. At the beginning of the game (second race series, can't think of the name, but it's one of the "warm up" sets), there's this stupid MR-S S Edition that continually slaughtered me at Green Forest Raceway.

So I waited until the corner he always passes me on, and let him take me and my "poor widdowl AE86", then gunned it around the next corner and POW! Into the dirt he goes. See, I'm a bit of a stickler for perfection (I've lost one race according to my game stats), and I couldn't beat him fairly, so I brought out the ancient chinese book of Old-Man Fu (Dirty fighting).

Generally, I drive it like a real car. But that MR-S, and other El-Cheapos like him get bumped.

:) - So you'll bump real people but are more courteous towards computer drivers!

But seriously, I don't suppose it's so much about being polite to little bits of software as much as knowing that you are driving "properly". I applaud your professionalism! I must confess that I am a little more amateur in my attitude sometimes...

Bumping can be fun!
too true! i love a good bump. sure i'll race with care in short races but hey once i have finished the endurances i do the mfor fun knocking as many cars off the road as i can. accelerating into a pack of cars on the top of the corkscrew (laguna seca) is very spectacular.

speeding heavy car + 5 slow light cars = massive carnage
:dopey:

Then, for the love of God, turn the computer off and learn something,
