As a 10 year vet of GT I decided that it may be time to switch from pad to wheel.

Having bought a WheelStandPro and a Logitech Driving Force GT, I am now finding it very tricky to get used to cars not driving at all like they did with a pad.

I have set my experience to Amateur and taken the FF down to 1 and enabled Power Steering.. But even the stock cars in arcade mode I am get a very jerky experience, uncontrollable experience.

Another issue is when going round some bends I need to turn the wheel nearly 2 rotations, is there a way to tighten the driving circle down from the 900 degree to something more playable.

I tried using the logitech profiler to fix the rotation but with no success.

So any tips or settings for a first time wheel user will be most appreciated..
 
you will want to have the settings on Pro-simulation (whatever the highest level is)

with a decently set up car and good driving you should not need to put in more than 180degrees of lock in each direction for normal racing

share a typical car setup that you're having issues with
 
Definitely set the Force Feedback Higher.. What you describe about needing to turn the wheel 2 full turns sometimes, isn't something you should be required to do...

With the force feedback set to basically off, when turning, you wont be able to feel the traction break, so you'll will just keep turning the wheel to turn the car. When Im just fooling around, not trying to improve lap times or setup a car, Ill go too hot into a turn and steer hard into it, and turn the wheel the almost 2 full turns. Cape Ring is a good example of this, if you going to fast exiting the big circle turn. Once you pass the point where the wheels have traction with the road, all you're doing is sliding, no driving. However, you can fight the FFB and turn the wheel to full lock and get the car to slide through the rest of the turn, but when you're driving "for real", proper turning etiquette works better.


Point is, you cant feel what the car is doing with the force feedback set to off. The FFB on the DFGT is pretty darn good for what is called an entry level wheel. Set it to 10, and you'll be used to it in no time. My opinion is to set everything to the "hardest" settings.. you'll be comfortable with it in no time, and then there is no getting rid of bad habits when you want to improve. Traction control off, Wheel Setting=Simulation, FFB=10.. Just leave ABS at 1.. the pedals on the DFGT leave much to be desired, and you'll have a hell of a time not locking the brakes up.
