Ok, i just got the Driving Force Pro the other day and i must say that it changes the game in a big way...for the better of course.

I have 2 questions, and i do appologies if someone has posted the same or a similar question, i have done a search already and didn't find anything.

1.) The steering overall feels very tight, even without force feedback. When i turn on my PS2, i can feel the wheel is nice and loose, fairly free moving, then after the wheel adjusts itself, turning from left to right, the steering goes tight. I am getting used to it while racing in the game, but im not sure if it's normal. I mean it's not that tight, but i find it hard to quickly turn full lock one way and then full the other way, im scared it might brake or something. Any advice?

2.) I only use the steering wheel in 200 degree mode, therefore the left green light is the only one that should be on. I noticed that the right light is also on...but very faint, you can hardly see it, but it is on and it is flickering on and off very lightly. I heard someone else mention the same thing but i can't remember what was said about it.

Any help regarding these two questions would be great.

Thank's

The right one is probably faint because of the left light spreading it's beam/glowt. Not sure dont have one of these wheels so i cant tell you an exact answer.

It is normal for the wheel to feel tight. Can you turn a real car from lock to lock very quickly? Neither can I. My DFP is the same way, and I like it, it simulates the feel of a real car even more. But what you should do is check to see if 100 percent feedback mode is on, if it is then it will be about twice as hard to turn it as normal. To switch from 60 percent to 100 percent press and hold Select+R3+Left Paddle. It will probably get hard as all hell to turn so to switch it back to 60%, do the same button combo you did to switch it there;).

About the blinking LED, don't worry about it, mine does the same thing, blinks but works perfectly.

Ok thank's, but as i said i don't have force feedback on, so changing the strength from 100% to 60% shouldn't make a difference.

As long as i know it's normal for the wheel to be a bit tight that's fine. Oh and your probably right about the right light emitting because of the other light shinning on it.

I can't believe how amazing this wheel is tho, it really does change the entire game. At first i couldn't get used to it, and it felt like i lost all my skill both grip and drift, but after a few hours of playing with it, i am already braking records.

Oh, got another question..sorry to go off topic, but is there anyway to set both the stick shifter and paddles for changing gears so you could choose what you want while racing?

So far i can only have one or the other, not both. It would be good if you could tho because its very hard to use the paddles when you are racing in 900 degree mode whilst turning. On the straights you could use the stick shifter coz it's fun, and for tight turns you could use the paddles. Is this possible??

You should drive it with the Force feedback on, it is really quite fun! Rumble strips really rumble:D

fatboyR6 i got it as a gift:D :D :D

All i know is that it was purchased from MegaMart, but i couldn't tell you the price. I noticed that even with the other blue logitech wheel it took ages to drop in price and even when it does it is only by a small margin so just go get it if you can afford it.

i think this wheel is worth every $$$ it's unreal. 900 Degree mode is fun to screw around with in GT3... so don't get any other wheel!

CarbonFiber Man i do drive with the force feedback on sometimes, but i end up with muscle spasms in my back!! It's like wrestling with a crocodile or something! I prefer it off, but i turn it on for fun. Do you always have it on?

Was it cheaper than 150? If so let me know.

I was just at EB earlier this evening, and I'm pretty sure I saw the wheel there for $114.99 Canadian.
I could easily be mistaken though, I didnt take a very close look.

well, that would be roughly $80.50 US, (calculated at a 0.70 exchange rate, for simplicity)

you do the math from there, i have no idea what the exchange on australian currency is

I got no idea. However every shop i go to seems to sell it for the same price of $299 whichs is expensive. I mean it's a great wheel and all but it costs as much as the playstation itself!! I think $200 (Aus) would be fair and i would be happy to pay that.

I was playing for a few hours last night and i must say that i really get a sore back and shoulders. Anyone else have this problem when they use a wheel?? I have a good desk chair and i have the wheel clamped to small adjustable TV stand. I can only play for about 45 minutes at one time then my neck, back and shoulders hurt. Maybe it's the powerfull force feedback? I turn it off most of the time.

Well, that sucks about your back and stuff, I never have problems with my back, just my a$$ from sitting and playing too much. The force feedback is awesome though, I would never use the wheel with it off, I don't see a reason to.

I went to my local EB store and checked the price of wheel, it was $150. I live in Alabama (USA) by the way. Damn you shelving costs! Anyway, I got mine as a gift also, a few days ago. It's great, I must admit.

hrm, sorry for the posting error

just checked out logitechs website, and the model i saw was the Logitech Driving Force for $114.99 Canadian, not the Driving Force Pro.

anyone know if that wheel is worth it's weight? or is it best to hold out for the Pro?

Pro, you'll love it. Feels less like a toy, and the force feedback is much better/more noticeable. Also, the 900 degree mode will be awesome for gt4, and you'll need the shifter then, because you won't be ale to find the paddles. Pro. And see if you can get it from amazon.com 115 shipped here to the US. Don't know about canada though. I got mine from compusa for the same price, 115 shipped.

Jim X is right, it really dosn't feel like a plastic toy, it feels very durable and solid which is great!

I think it's the best wheel on the market and i would give it a score of about 9/10. It looses a mark because you can't change the gear shifter over to the left side. I did get used to the shifter being on the right side very quick...so it's ok.

Mine arrived yesterday, had a couple of hours play last night....

Firstly - christ it's heavy!! My "TVdinner" table that I used for my old logitech wheel is not so stable with this wheel - gonna need to put weights on the bottom!

The pedals are sweet, the grip system works very well and it's good to finally see a "brake" pedal that feels like a brake pedal (harder than gas pedal)

Tried it with GT concept, GT3, and Burnout 2.

The resistance \ feedback is very strong - feels too tight at first - tried 100% and was way too much for me yet, so changed back to 60% feedback.

Tried 900degree briefly, felt too much with GT3 on Autumnring, so quickly switched that back. May be good for long open circuits tho.

As you get used to it, it becomes realistic, you pick up the nuances of understeer before it happens, oversteer is not as easy to correct as the driving force (where there was a very clear "light spot" at perfect counter angle) but it is there but with some resistance still.

GTconcept, something like the R35 skyline or rallying circuits, your arms are working damn hard to catch big drifts, hard work and frustrating at first, but really rewarding as you start to "click" with the wheel. Ran a few races with the Corvette C5R, just so nice to sit on someone's tail through a few bends then shift a gear, pull out of the slipstream, and blast past them. Always manual, all TCS and ASM turned off.

GT3, rolling around complex string with the 787B, the weight just felt perfect, heavy but balanced, really easy to just push the nose wide, or the tail under power, or even the tail under hard braking, you can just sense as the car goes light through the feedback. Did a roadster race with a tuned RUF 3400S, ASM off but TCS on 1, really nice to just push the tail out with the power exiting a bend, then shifting a gear and counter steer to straighten up. Very rewarding.

Burnout 2, what a blast, lights out volume up (surround, naturally) and whilst I'm lucky to run a 42" screen, the "arcade" feel was amazing. You really find yourself staring into the horizon, watching traffic, jumping lanes, and finishing a race realising you haven't blinked!

I've said it before with steering wheels recreating the arcade feel, but never has any wheel felt *so* much like a proper arcade wheel than the pro. Reminded me very much of playing Sega rally for the first time in the arcades. The shift could do with being on the left but I'll forgive that as everything else is so damn good. Finally a wheel that moves from being a "toy" to a "simulator"

If you have the opportunity, or the funds, buy it!

Ian.

Excellent review Tavia. It seems you share the same kind of love with your new wheel as I do. It's sick, but oh so pleasing. Now, OFF TO DRIVE!!!

Yep, it's still that price :D I bought mine almost 2 months ago from amazon and it came really early (about 3 days) and the shipping was free. Amazon if definitely the best place to buy this wheel. I can't believe the price is dropping  My cost $115, but it's a hell lot cheaper than buying it somewhere else ;)

I have been told the 105 price is for used setups, but i didnt look at the page closely enough to tell.
