I got the Logitech Driving Force Pro a few weeks ago and I must say its great. I was messing around in the DFP settings (where you set the calibration and force feedback) and I was wondering what the wheel settings of Beginner, Amature, Pro and Sim do. I tried it out a few times and sim was like driving on ice, i couldn't even make turns doing 30 with little throttle. Anyways, I did a search on it but all that comes up are 2 comments: those settings are crap code leave it be, or all the European racing pros use Sim mode. I know these settings change handling but I was wondering if anyone here actually knows what the difference REALLY is between each setting (beginner, amature, etc.) and/or which is the best to use? Is it just personal preference?
What are your wheels set at??

comments/questions are appreciated. THanks!

I know with the momo wheel I use professional and I like the feel of it. Not sure if it would be different for the driving force pro.

Yep, you're right, pretty much all the serious European drivers that turn up at iLinks use the Simulation setting. It's just more realistic, you cannot magically correct any breakout of the car, and you get a much more accurate force feedback experience. I wouldn't drive any other way, and neither do drivers like Flinx, jmr, Momo and all those other amazing wheel drivers.

Having said that, you should use what you feel is right for you. I really prefer Simulation Mode by far because you can really feel the road and the car in the wheel so much better, and that gives you feedback on the car which helps you understand the lines.

I use Simulation,and force feedback at 100%.
It feels more real.

I refuse to use the 900* mode.

Sim mode, and 100%. I've tried 900 degree mode for a lark, takes too much lock to acheive turn-in.

I'm referring to GT3.

One thing I forgot to clarify was that I was talking about these settings in GT3 and not the prologue or any other GT game that might offer them. Either way thanks.

pro mode is the most responsive of the modes. Sim mode doesn't responds well to countersteering for drifting purposes.

From what i know, GT3 also supports Drving Force Pro's 900 degrees of rotation, right??:rolleyes:

You can use it but it doesn't support it. So you just have to turn a really long ways to get wheel lock. Its not speed sensitive like it should be.

Beginner ---> slowest response
Amateur ...
Professional ...
Simulation ---> fastest response
