...is actually a hell of a lot easier after consuming a bottle of wine than it is without. Who knew?

(I'm a bumper-cam view kind of guy normally. Have been since the original GT, in fact.)

Anybody else find it incredibly difficult making the switch from bumper to cockpit after having used the bumper cam for so many years?

I find it a little weird but it just takes getting use to.

I tried it and keep going back to bumpercam.

1. I hate the two wheels in front of me

2. Some views are very average to say the least

3. Like you say It is so hard to adjust and actually gives me headaches

4. When playing different racing games it is easier to jump from one to the other as the bumpercams are the same apart from view height.

5. I don't drink any more so I don't have that advantage:nervous:.

6. It seems to gie a better impression of speed

Good luck and you know you shouldn't drink and drive, you will fry your PS3!:grumpy:

At firsst I had a little problem adjusting to it.
But now I love it, it is so much fun.

But when it really comes down to it I find myself using bumper view again. :D

I find the difference in the on screen wheel and the actual wheel way too distracting... I'll double check this though after consuming 2 bottles of wine.... stand by :)

I use all of them and after abit of adaptation it's no problem. Thing is the cockpit view is VERY restrictive, can't see around you and it's like the drivers head is held in place with a brace or something, the view should at least lean or shake when cornering and over bumps respectively and pitch under braking.

I've never been a big fan of the bumper cam and always used either the roof cam or the cockpit cam to be able to see what and how far something is in front of me. The only thing I can recommend you is to use it more often to get used to it.

The bumper cam is better than the cockpit cam in terms of visibility and hitting apexes, but I find the cockpit view more immersive. I used a steering wheel once to play GT5 in cockpit view and didn't have a problem with it.

I agree with the fact that the cockpit view cam is very rigid with almost no peripheral vision, so you can't see if someone is next to you. Also I some cars, you can't even see the rear view mirror unless you look to the side.

For me Iracing is showing how a cockpit view must be. The car move around the eye of the pilot. When the car shake , the pilot's eye don't. Like real life. The way it is, it's impossible to be very performant with the cockpit view in GT5. Nice view with premium car but unusable.
Must be easy for PD to change this in the next update.

Both good for me. I do in-car view with the premiums, and bumper for standard, as I don't like the black silhouette and not being able to see the hood when in-car.

The cam can move also in Iracing. You can set it up, down ,left ,right and zoom in zoom out. If PD could fix this , at least a cockpit view that does not shake, it would be great.
I use the roof view, this is the fastest for me. I'm sure the cockpit view can be as fast this way and with more driving pleasure for premiums cars.

I only use cockpit view since GTprolouge. No problems for me.

However, this thread is pretty old. So the OP may not respond.

I usually prefer chase view, though I use bumper-cam when driving on particularly dark tracks (like the Nurb with time/weather change).

It's an old thread i know , it was just to use an existant thread in the way to create another one.
Good if this view is not a problem for you but most of the people just use it sometime because it's very nice and real. To be fast they use another one less real because of the (shaking eyes) problem.

I just want a better game , i know there is the feedback section to ask this kind of things. There you will see that most of the people ask for premium cars . But why do you want a nice cockpit view if you can't use it 100%.

Mostly cockpit view, rarely I used bumper or roof, almost never use chase cam. I like being inside the car, and actually on the driver seat.

GT5 is behind others games for PC or Xbox on this point, they need to correct it, no reasons to stay behind. Make me happy Mr PD.:)

For me, in car view can be used at 100%. But it takes more track knowledge to be at 100%. Bumper Cam and Hood Cam do offer a far better perspective for which to judge a corner. So to be 100% or close, I have to learn the track well. Once I know braking points, apexes and such, I'm good.

Truth be told, even if I was faster using a different view. I still prefer in car view. Because to me it's more fun and more sim like.

Damn! 'Dat V8 sound  .... makes me want to buy an iRacing subscription :indiff: .

That view from iRacing still just looks so incredibly weird to me. It doesn't even look like you're driving, it looks like you are watching a completely motion-dampened camera suspended in a car driving around the track, just following the turns. Or like watching a video of a track going by with a fake superimposed car bouncing all over the place in front of it.

I can't drive six feet down my driveway without my head and eyes moving at least a little bit - even if I am focused on a single point I can see movement. I'm sure it would be better if I could feel the feedback and all, but watching it is just as surreal as the way GT5 looks with the almost rock-solid head position - or the old rattling head view. My personal preference is the rFactor style with head and car both moving independently, although that's not perfect either and lots of people hate it(it can vary widely depending on the settings too).

But one thing is for sure, none of them are at all the way it looks like to your eyes when you are driving a car. Not that that's an easy thing to simulate of course.

Driving from cockpit is a lot of fun with 3D turned on and lower screen HUD off. Otherwise I just can't do it.

To the OP: Try choosing the "narrow" viewing angle on in-race options. It makes this view more natural in my opinion.
I drive all my cars with the cockpit view since standards got theirs too.

I usually use the bumper cam also. I do like using the inside view for cruising or when i'm in first in a race. I'm just not as fast in the inside view.

However, I just found that im faster in the cockpit view in the F1 cars. I don't know why, other than i can see the amount of steering input i'm putting in. I did the bumper cam in the F1 seasonal at nurburgring in the bumper cam and came in 3rd. Did it again in the cockpit view and won easily. I don't get it, that view just seems to suit that car.

I use bumper cam when I'm being competitive, online, TT's, etc, because thats what I'm used to. When I'm offline and just messing around, I enjoy the cockpit view.

Never really understood this TBH.
I never look at my wheel,in game or real life either.

I switch around. Bumper cams for time trials, cockpit for races and chase for drifting. Weird, I know.

Funny this thread got revived as I just started using cockpit. Been using bumper for years and never gave it much of a chance. 95% of my racing is online and I need to have a large scope of vision. Plus, when GT5 came out it seemed like the cockpit view was way too bouncy. Guess they adjusted it a lot-it's not that way now at all.

Been taking a break from online and started playing some seasonals. Tried the Ferrari F1 in cockpit just for a kick. WOW. All hud off and it's like a whole new game for me now. Been running different events I never gave a chance that way. Running Arcade races I set up for Enduros. I loose track of what lap I'm on or what my position is. Been experimenting with methods of making challenging races in Arcade but that's another topic!

Checking out some pCARS videos got me thinking of trying cockpit-was getting a little jealous. But GT5 ain't too bad in that department. The cars just feel more alive and in touch with the road. No way I could go back to bumper in offline now. Dig it!
