I'm going to bring to light something that no one has mentioned on the SS5 time trial and that is screen brightness. I've been running that course on a Sony LCD that I tuned using a calibration disk. With the black levels properly set that roadway is DARK. This morning I cranked the levels on the screen back to their out-of-the-box setting and suddenly I'm seeing at least three times farther down the road.*
I just care about getting gold but if you are a contender and you are driving on a calibrated screen, you are at a huge disadvantage against those that aren't.*

My Samsung is too dark as well.

I haven't been trying too many night courses, might just make a few changes and see how it plays out. :)

Same with me. With standard settings the lights just don't illuminate the road enough.

I always set, what is it, Gamma or Gain (?) settings to +1.0 and then you can see fine. I still think high beams should be brighter for a longer distance.

My Sharp LCD is one of those smart TV's. When a screen has more black or dark colors it tends to dim the gamma, reducing the range in which I can see the road ahead. It drives me mad.

Turn off energy saving and dynamic contrast.
