I thought it would be interesting to find out how people REALLY feel about the licensing and new-option-on-the-block driving missions...

Whatever your preference, there's a choice for you... so vote now, and find out just what we all think of these aspects of the GT game!

Well I've always liked the licenses. I enjoy the driving missions too, but I find them quite hard and feel they'll keep me from getting 100%. :ouch:

I thought there were way too many licenses in gt4. There weren't enough in gt3, so perhaps they could have gone with 12 per tier instead of 16?? I found that the licenses help hone certain skills, and allow you drive in different cars at different venues. So i think they're good. The missions, I really like. Most of them are fairly easy to clear, and all of them are rewarding. However, certain missions (ahem, 34) are WAY too hard. It's nice to save the hardest for last, but honestly, putting in a perfect lap at the nurburgring in a less than perfect car is hard enough, and even more so when you have to pass cars on a narrow track. But overall, i've found the missions to be a nice way to challenge the player, and make some more money in the process.

Licenses? Pretty nice.. The number of license tests for every license should be about 20 in GT5..

Missions? Very very annoyingly hard.. And I did break 2 controllers *is stuck at Mission 11*

Licences: Annoying, especially if you've done it all before (multiple times no less), however, a few stick out as actually being fun (IA 15 kicks arse)
Missions: Annoying difficulty curve (easier than the easiest license test, then hard, then easy, then hardest) and not as... rewarding? Fun? Worthwhile? as license tests.

The licenses aren't that hard. They're easy to pass and only take some time when going for golds. I don't mind them.

The missions were great. Even though they seemed impossible at first, after giving them some serious thought it was possible to beat them all. Euro version that is.

Though I don't MIND these tests, I hope Mr Gran Turismo will focus on the actual racing in the next iteration of the series. Change up the AI and make the races more realistic / challenging instead of spending valuable time into creating so many licenses.

Missions are a worthwhile diversion, although annoyingly hard (still stuck at 15, even though I've finished all the drafters)... the licenses? GT2 or GT3 levels are bearable, but this is too much. Finished them quickly, but it takes too much of your time.

i've always had a serious love, hate relationship with the license tests...
as in... i hate that i love them.
would save me some anguish if i could leave gold alone and not keep trying to get *perfection*
the missions are all cool, accept the idiocy of making you wait at the begining of the magic lap ones. >:E

they're the only genuine challenge the game requires (sure you can go for tough races etc. but that isn't required). I guess the only thing i would have liked is more consistency within the missions. Some were stupidly easy - others were devilishly challenging. But getting 34 done will definitely be the challenge i most savoured in GT4 - possibly even the whole series.

The Licenses are great! Missions are good.

I only got into going for Gold during GT4P and now I'm committed to getting all Gold in GT4. The Missions are interesting, a good addition I think.

75 Gold, 5 Silver.
33 Missions complete. Just 1 to go (M34).

With the AI being quite dumb i actually like the licenses as it is a good challenge to aim for gold without having someone ram you off the road!

The mission hall is a really good added feature, it really lets you know how close a win could be.

All i have to say now is the both of those challenge facilities are their to determine how good a driver you are - IMO - if you are a bad driver you will hate them because they will seem impossible - if you are a fairly good driver you will appreciate the challenge:tup:

Because it's so easy to get money in GT4 (and advance), the license tests and missions offer some challenge and sense of accomplishment. Of couse my biggest complaint is the 123 second wait in Mission 34 (NA version). That was a waste of time. I also like the added A-spec aspect.

I just think those missions are just tooo difficult (specially 34). License is ok, after all, we are already used to it...

In GT4 as well as GT3 I've been known to restart from scratch just be able to redo the licenses and missions (time trials). Once I get gold in all the licenses and pass all the missions, most of the challenge of the game is over for me. After all, you can blow away all the cars at almost all the races with zero challange, but you can't fool the licenses and missions. They are what they are and you have to beat them within the guidelines set down for each one. No cheating (well maybe a bit of wall riding in 34) and no sloppy driving alowed.

Both the missions and the licenses are great parts of the the game and the only parts where you actually need some sort of skill to pass them. Lets be honest you could probably train a chimp to do most of the races in an overpowered car.
My only gripe is the wait at the start of missions why we need this i will never know.

I like the licenses (all 80 of them) the only gripe I have is the coffe breaks, great Idea but some of them are harder than the lincenses themselves...IMHO...not much of a break me thinks...

PD came up good on the Mission Hall, love the way they set them up. Very challenging All the races should be mirrored from the Mission races...
:dopey:

I recently completed all the missions and got 80 golds...really fun and challenging.

One of my few issues is while "the missions are great...I hate the wait." The time delay for the one-lap missions should "NOT" be in the next release...c'mon, we're playing a video game, that should give the designers a clue that we're not the most patient sort to begin with. ;-) Get all the other cars out on the track, give me a 3-sec countdown and I'm good-to-go.

Thanks,
Zdriver

I liked the driving missions.........lots of A spec points!. I'm currently going for all gold licenses..............although some of them are HARD, I mean, for ****sakes I am going to go mad one of these days! :dunce: :ouch:   It totally makes you a better driver..........and it adds to the vocabulary as well!!!
I mean, I have made up curses and swear words that would
make a sailor vomit:yuck:
So.......I HATE these liceses!!!!!!! But I can't stop. I must beat them!:nervous:
