Latest "Update" Quite a Setback!

I am an avid fan of all types of racing, as most of us here are, and a life long car enthusiast, restorer, and long ago, amateur racer. I love the feeling of driving that GT gives me. I enjoy the vast array of cars you can buy, tune, and compete with. I also enjoy the exotic and expensive cars that I would like to own, although, may not necessarily drive very often, other than photo cruises, as is the case with many real life collectors.

The Seasonal Events allowed me the opportunity to build my entire families' PSN accounts up in cash value and buying level. Now, or at least before 1.07, when I want a good car I simply buy it and send it to myself. I earned the money.

BUT NO!

I am no longer able to do that. That is extremely disappointing. There is no advantage for Sony/PD to stop that function unless they are planning to sell DLC. Period.

Suggestions For Restoring Gifting.

  1. Up To Unlimited Trading On One PS3 Between All Accounts
  2. 1 Car of Any Value for Each Account Each Day Between Friends (Like it was)
  3. 10% "Tax" on Gifts. Example, You Gift a $20,000,000 car it costs you $2,000,0000 in credits.
  4. Allow More Than $20,000,000 in Credits.
  5. You Have to Be the Level the Car is to Drive it.
  6. Let Us Race Whatever We Just Bought, Over say $1,000,000, In a One Time Only, High Dollar, One Make Race To Earn Back What We Just Paid For The Car

I am also pretty sure that the "Ultimate Driving Game" had no intention of becoming the "Ultimate Grinding Game" but that is what is happening with the changes. I don't know what 100 wins at Indy to save up $10,000,000 to buy a Ferrari you can drive in about 1% of the game teaches you about racing, but it teaches you nothing about enjoying the game.

As far as cloning, duping, whatever you want to call it, I see where it only allows people the opportunity to further enjoy the game, play it more often, and look forward to new things to do. By slapping our hands and removing some of the most fun in the game, owning and driving some amazing cars, Sony/PD have left the bad taste in my mouth of having something unwanted shoved down my throat. GT5 has become pickled beets

When I want a racing challenge, I tune my car a little slower than the competition and use better lines in the corners, better braking, and better overall technique to overcome the competition. As I am sure the real racers do. It is SNORE INDUCING for me to run the Red Bull car anywhere in terms of "competition", and the car doesn't exist so it's only purpose for me is grinding money. There is a lot of brilliant program code simply wasted every time we grind for cash. I don't think Sony/PD have to Mother Hen us into their idea of how to use their game. We already gave them their money for the game and the console if we are playing it, right?

Unless The Idea is For Sony/PD To Sell DLC Packages, These Limitations Make No Sense.

I highly agree with that. They are making harder for us to enjoy cars we will never see in real life. Also some of us don't have the time to earn 20,000,000 Cr. to enjoy a beautiful XJ13 or Miura.

I agree, grinding must go. Some say "grinding makes the game last longer". I don't agree, I will play this game as long as the online servers are up, because for me that's where the unlimeted game life comes from. I want to beat the game ONCE, build my garage, and then race online untill GT6. Is that so hard?

Make this and i'll be happy.

+ more events on A-spec and maybe new tracks?

It's pure tortur to drive 9 hrs of Tsukuba only to earn 569.000 Cr. if I remember correctly.
4 hours with a crappy MX-5 was more than enough pain.

Put the 9 hour on any other track then Tsukuba and Susuka and I would drive it with a smile on my face.

What annoys me is that you quite often can't sell cars you win. In fact I bought one that I can't re-sell (the Toyota 7, which I hate, but am now stuck with!!).

Why on earth can't you sell so many cars? It really doesn't make any sense or add to the game. It's not even realistic!

If you could sell the high value cars you win you can at least try more out.

Agreed. All cars should be sellable. Preferably sold for what you paid for it. Mabye even including upgrades.

I agree. We've paid for the game so we should have all the tracks, cars and paint available to us right from the beginning.

Just FYI, the whole DLC thing is nonsense. How would duping possible effect DLC sales? If you tried to dupe a DLC car to someone who didn't buy the DLC, their copy of GT5 would say "What the heck is this?" And they'd get nothing.

The other issue with the soon to be restrictions is that it limits cars to be used online and seasonals. When PD comes out with something similar to the Seasonal with the Ferrari F1s and who in their right mind would buy the car to use in a few races? Buying both cars will cost 22,500,000 which translates into at minimum of 15 1/2 hours of mindless grinding. That is a real joke.

Thankfully I duped out 68 of the cars above the limit and 14 X-1s before this nonsense goes into effect.

Totally agree 👍

If you really want to use a car for a particular event or for any reason Im sure someone who has EARNT it wouldn't mind adding it to their share list allowing you to use it without having to fork out the credits to OWN it. If you really want to own a particular car then you will have to earn it like you have always had to in all the previous GT's. Everyone just wants something for nothing it seems or to have everything overnight. The game isn't perfect by any means, but it was made worst by the fact no car is rare or has iconic status due to the ability to gift/dupe. PD must not know if they are coming or going, one minute the game is too short and the next everyone wants everything from the off. You can't have it both ways. :)

1) Fix duping.

Problem solved....once they do this they can move onto...

2) Remove all trade restrictions and credit cap. In fact, they should just GET RID of gifting and go to some type of auction house type of selling or other alternate real time trading method.

Until then, it's just patch after patch of PD punishing legit players.

Dude, it's a game and it's "earned" not earnt. The credits have no real value, the cars have no value, PD isn't paying out cash when you level up. Why do they have to limit everything? The sale of DLC is governed by trade mark and copyright laws you agree to when you say yes to the user agreement to play the game. And it is illegal and against eBay rules to sell video game content. Report auctions with DLC and they will get shut down... Just let us do what we want with our cars, especially between ID's on one PS3. I earned that money on all those ID's.

The game is played out for me and I was content buying and collecting all the cars I wanted, racing them occasionally. I spent more hours grinding then competing and it seems they only want us to grind more. Silly.

I think the reasoning behind this is that they suspect that PD will offer existing cars as DLC (e.g. the Miura or the P4 330 or a 'get-all' pack), therefor they have to close off other ways to get them. Personally, I think that's a bit too far fetched. ;)

And for sure they should get rid of the 20 million credit limit. Who wants to spend every single credit they have on one car?

That has been my assertion since all this limited trading garbage. Do you really think a couple thousand car sales on eBay caused them to shut down trading for nearly 7 million game owners? Heck no. They have wanted to sell DLC since day one and this current duping-gate scandal just made it palatable enough to blame it all on the "cheaters" (I don't understand how that is any more cheating than having a better car than your opponents in a race, which everyone does at least for the grinding races, because we don't like to lose...) and shove it down our throats... Pickled beets I say, pickled beets...

DLC could only be the reason if they plan on selling existing cars as DLC. Any car that is not already in the game they can simply turn off the ability to gift/put online, like the Stealth and Chrome Line cars.

Because a game -in your opinion- MUST always suck as much as real life, amirightoramiright?
