I recently started over in my game and just raced the amateur league FR challenge with my Supra RZ(J) and after 2 1/2 laps my front right tire was full on red and the other 3 tires were orange. I am using the tires that come on the car. What tires should I buy? Also am I just plain driving way too aggressively?

The front tire wearing out too fast, is probably due to late braking, and hard cornering. My adivce, is grab T2 tires, and hit the brakes twice as early as you think you need to. If you can coast into the corner, you can move your braking point up closer to the turn.

The added benefit to this, is you'll carry more speed through the corner, your car is much more stable, and you will have a faster speed exiting the corner.

Good luck,

AO

I Don't think your driving too aggressive. Which tires were you using and what race was it on? (if your using the ones that come with it it should only last 4-5 laps methinks.

after 4-5 laps on a mildly tuned car...
is yout problem too much HP?
try braking earlier and coast thru most of the corner :)

bah if I start braking earlier I guess I need to relearn my whole driving style. Oh well buy some racing tires and adjust from there.

It does but when under heavy braking (a good example is the first turn on Complex String) as I've said before I can't hear tires screeching when I'm braking, but in the replay smoke is pouring out of the front and/or rears...:|

I've always used T8 tyres when I can, except for the 5 and more lap races, then I use medium race tyres. I've never had a problem with the 3 lappers with the stickiest tyres, but maybe also because I used the Honda Integra Type-R to do most of the Beginner and Amateur leagues. Would be a different case if one used the big HP RWD cars ... and also noticed the handling is still fine until that tyre is like blood red haha.

well it is a lightish FF car..
and if you dont push the accelerator inthe corners too early than i imagine that you'd get good wear :)

The Supra is know for being heavy on its tyres, just try diving a bit smoother and go easy on trying to enter a corner to fast

Welcome to GTPlanet, railslider. Everybody here has given good advice, but I'll second Der Alta's advice: go for Super Slicks / Super Hards (T2 tires) and brake much earlier. This really made a significant improvement to my lap times.

You know the little "suggested gear" number that pops up and flashes as you approach a corner? When it starts flashing, that marks the suggested braking point. Try braking when it first appears, before it flashes (unless you're miles from the next corner) and see if that helps. If you are coming in way too slow, push your braking point back until you brake when the number starts flashing. Try that for a while, and get used to it. Once you are comfortable braking at that point, try to nibble your braking points a little later until it starts to huirt your cornering again. Good luck!

Only YOU would know...

yes,buy t2 for front and t1 for the back as it will increase turning abilty!!hope this helps

He isnt trying to turn sharper... he is trying to reduce tire wear(don't buy the simulation tires unless your really bored and in a very good mood)

You're like Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder. When he ripped around the track in his stock car tearing up his tires thinking he was flying and his pit boss made him race cleaner and showed him the better tire wear and faster lap times.

go Tom Cruise

That's all well and good, but in Days Of Thunder our Tom clearly at one point, whilst flat out in top gear, changes down a gear and accelerates. Try that in real life and your head gasket becomes the first man-made object to orbit Beta Hydri.

I remember in MI: 2 I was watching the tires of the bikes and they were road tires on the bikes...then when there was that beach scene they were dirt tires...so I was something like this, ":irked:."
