Driving the Ferrari 348TB

Next week I'll get the chance to drive a Ferrari 348TB. Now, I was wondering if anyone on here has already driven this type of Ferrari. And if so, what was it like? What should I be aware of? I've already read that this thing has all the characteristics of a 300bhp go-kart - without power steering, a heavy clutch, and a generally bumpy ride. I've driven pretty fast cars before, but nothing above 250bhp, and all pretty modern.

Yeah that's a good one. :scared: Maybe I'll just try the 512BB on comfort hards this weekend to get some practice. :D
 
That won't help... Where are you going to be driving it? Road, track? If it's the road, get someone experienced to come along with you to make sure you do everything right. If it's the track, get a track instructor and let everyone pass you, even if they're in Focus's. Then when you get the hang of it, open up a little.

I was kidding about the 512BB thing. ;) I'll have a very experienced Ferrari driver next to me so I'll make sure I pay good attention to everything he says. We'll be driving on the road, but it's nice and quiet there thank god.
 
If Testarossa's clutch is anything to go by, the clutch pedal will be *VERY* heavy. Also, let the car idle good 10-15 minutes to insure that the transmission oil is warm, otherwise there will be.. issues. I don't know if the 348 has dogleg 'box, but in case that it has one, better go through the gear pattern few times before actually driving the car. Slipping it on reverse at traffic lights is not a good idea. ;)

That's about as much as it will need. :D Testarossa had the heaviest clutch I've ever experienced.
 
It's a 348tb, so it's not exactly going to be the ballsiest Ferrari ever made, even for the early 90's. The clutch is probably the only thing that'll take getting used to, & that's about it once everything is warmed up.

Now, I haven't driven a 348tb, but I drove a 355 some years ago, & if the gearboxes are any similar, it's a pretty nice transmission imo, to shift through. They are pretty nimble cars & they'll still pack a bit of power, but the 348s are about 100Hp down, so I just can't imagine it feeling any more amazing over something with 250Bhp. Might sound a lot nicer though.

Despite this, it was far from the worst Ferrari ever made, so you'll still get that feeling of driving a Ferrari, & they can be a lot of fun your first time in one. 👍
 
Well, if you're driving a Ferrari 348TB, be aware that this guy might likely be the one actually powering the car :sly:

It was a really nice car to drive! The clutch needed a bit getting used to and the steering was heavy, but you could really feel that you were in complete control. No computer gizmo's or ABS for that matter. And the engine sound, well, that just was epic. Also, loved the little "click" sound the gearbox made when shifting. 👍 Next up, 360 Modena in a couple of weeks. :D
