Can it cause non-repairable HP drain or make the car not drivable? The reason I ask is I've got Bob in the x2010 at 24hrs of LeMans @ Sarthe, and at hour 18 the oil light turned on. With 6 hours to go it's a bit disconcerting.

I've never known it to be an issue. My X2010 has 433k miles on it though, so yeah, permanent loss.

Nothing to worry about :)
Yes, your X2010 will lose some Hp in the course of the race, but it will still be quicker than its opponents.
Change your oil after the race and he is ok again ;)

Oil is nothing (much) to worry about, people don't change oil on purpose to keep the PP level down.

With dirty oil, you tend do lose around 10-50 hp depending on the car's power. It does nothing to the reliability etc of the car (which it should do- PD, proper mechanical damage please!) It's nothing permanent for oil though, you can just replace the oil and ta-da!

Any car will lose HP permanently after about 5000km driven.

You can always rebuild the engine in GT Auto and bring some of the lost HP back but it never brings back all.

My 1st S.V. Redbull has about 120k klm with 0(zero) oil changes, or any kind of maintenance.
Nothing to worry about.

My friend once bout a Honda Civic that was very high mileage, and when we went out to drive it he said he could not go, and that his RPM stayed at ZERO. I had trouble believing him so I spectated the race to find that he was serious. We then persued to push him around with RAMs :sly:

Now I don't know if that has any correlation with this thread and Dirty Oil but I thought I would add it in.
