So I decided to make the plunge to giving MT a try and thought what better place to do it in an easily controllable car at low speeds with enough repetition to ingrain it into my memory than the god-awful Tsukuba 4 hours Endurance.

Got the Racing Softs on, MT selected, TC on 1, ABS on 1 and ready to go. I am using L2 for braking and R2 for accelerating, R1 for downshifts while braking and L1 for upshifts while accelerating so that no hand is doing two things at once (in theory at least). So far so good.

Not 15 minutes into the race and my hands are aching so much so that the idea of doing another 3h45min of it is more than enough to quit the race. Is it something that I just need to suck it up and get used to, or is it something to do with button configurations that could be better.

Any configurations that anyone would like to share would be most appreciated as in that short space of racing I felt maybe 1-2 seconds a lap faster.

In short, how are you DS3 users using MT?

X for accelerator, square for brake, L2 for downshifts and R2 for upshifts. Done a full 24H non stop (practically) and my hands didnt get sore, always used it this way with no problems.

Ever since the joysticks came to playstation controllers I've been on:

Left stick: Steer
Right stick: throttle/brake
L2: downshift
R2: upshift

Even when I'm using different configs for other driving games.

Right thumb can become achy if there's a lot of 100% throttle in the lap, unless it's Indy, in which case the faithful rubber band is applied.

Doesn't anyone else use the on-track menu system for changing TC/ASM/4wd options etc? I find it very useful.

Your configuration is good, but doe ahifting with the right stick. Its much better fir your hands

Don't know who that was addressed to, but there's room in my config for that.

The problem for people using R-stick as gas/brake is they can't heel 'n' toe (brake and gas at the same time), which is almost a prerequisite on the Lotus Top Gear and the Lambo Grand Tour challenges.

Mine's like this:

Left stick: Steer
Right stick: throttle/brake
R1: gear up
L1 Gear down
R2: Handbrake
L2: Look back
R3: Lights
L3: open menu (just for brake balance and center Dif)
Pad: menu setings
Triangle: Reverse
Circle: Horn

I also have X and square for acel/braking when my thumb get achy...
