Well, after finally buying Shift 2 for PC I realised I had no wheel until the 27th. So, with no XBOX controller, I plugged my DS3 into the USB port. Windows recognises it and says it successfully installed the hardware. I check the game controller settings to assign buttons, and I get no response. I tried to install MotioninJoy drives but it came up with error code 2. I do have access to an admin account. Help Needed.

Well motioninjoy is essential to getting the DS3 to work on PC. If it's only the install you are having trouble with, have you right clicked on the installer and chosen the 'run as administrator' option?

The DS3 has driver issues on PC.

Since these drivers are made by people for free there will be issues.

I tried it once, I forget which program i used but once i configured it for PC(which had issues), it would not work on my PS3, I had to reset my controller to fix it.

In the end i bought a cheap no-name brand Play Station like controller and it works well.

Ahh, not the install of the program itself, but the drivers that are installable within the program.

Hmm, well the way I do it is:
1) Plug in the controller.
2) Open the program once the controller is connected.
3) Select Xbox 360 controller.
4) Hit enable.
5) Click vibration testing to make sure it has worked.

Use Xbox controller from the list as more games support it natively, and it gives you all of the analogue inputs easily. I have version 0.6.0001, I'm pretty sure that all versions earlier than 0.6 are much harder to use. Also, this is on Windows 7, Vista should work fairly similarly, but I'm not sure how well it would work with XP if you are using that.

If you have 64bit windows then you will have to enable unsupported software for it to work(it's in the instructions).

I know of this driver called sixaxis driver or something like that. It's a bit tedious but my cousin's gotten it to work on his computer. Try googling it.

If you got 32-bit windows, then just follow motionjoy's instructions to the letter and it should work. It's easier to use and install on 32-bit.

Just get the sixaxis and motionjoy stuff. I had no issue with the instructions over at motionjoy and it seems to work just fine. I use it with an emulator so I can stream playing SNES games and such.
