would you guys say its "necessary" to play gt5 on a wheel? im playing with a ds3 and i have gold on all licenses on b and a but i think i would get have a better experience with a wheel. what do you guys recommend? are there any cheap wheels out there? i keep seeing people mentioning a logitech g27 and i finally looked it up and saw the $300 price tag 💡 are there any for cheaper? my parents dont think that is a good investment for a 15 year old

Wheel is more fun to drive = better experience.

Look up for the DFGT from Logitech (could be a nice x-mas present ;))

Having a wheel makes driving some of the twitchier FR and MRs worlds easier to handle. It's also easier to 1-hand so you can drink and drive or whatever.

As for cost, DFGTs are fairly inexpensive. Too lazy to look it up for you, though -- B-Spec driver's about to crash.

yeah DFGT is definetly cheap, I've seen it @149$ from Best buy I think
Only thing missing will be the H shifter and the clutch

would i suffer a lot for not having the h shifter and clutch?

Not at all, but you'll be missing out on a whole lot of fun, in my opinion. I used to have a Driving Force Pro (or whatever the GT wheel was for PS2) and it doesn't compare to the G27. That being said, any Logitech wheel is better than a Dualshock 3. A very good investment if you plan on playing this game for a long time.

You won't necessarily be much faster with a wheel (at first you'll probably be slower because it's new experience), but the enjoyment I get from playing racing games with wheel and pedals is exponentially higher than playing with a gamepad.

I've had a G25 for the last four years, but even my first wheel - the orginal cheap plastic Driving Force - around eight years ago, put a huge smile on my face the first time I used it, and for a long time after.

Apart from the clutch and H shifter, my last question about this subject will be this one:

The wheel itself worth the money?

The force feedback, as I read in so many places and reviews is quite equal to the G25, it's not the same because the two engines the G25 has, but very close in all aspects.

The bad thing is the "noise" from the wheel it self, which can be covered with the sound of the engines so 👍.

The thing about the brake pedal can be fixed with some tweak here and there, but, in an overall perspective, the DFGT is worth the money... I think.

I will buy one this week, so, wish me luck!

Wheel is definitely fun if you plan on doing a lot of racing. And you will have much more control over your vehicle. Also the force feedback adds so much to the experience. The first dirt event in the license tests just wouldn't have been the same without the FFB on the wheel.

It doesn't come without it's downsides though. You are less likely to oversteer due to the better steering input; however, when you do lose the rear end of your car it can be much more difficult to regain the car.

Another thing to consider is where you'll mount it. It won't do you much good to get a wheel and have to figure out how to balance it in your lap. Make sure you are going to have a decent place to set up the wheel/pedals or else you might find yourself going back to the DS3 anyway.

belive it or not, but i am as fast with the SIXAXIS controller as i am with the wheel. and i am not slow. But i got some thumb skills, so i dunno about others. but i manage to make it work very well :)

But the experience is way better with a wheel. So i suggest u get one :)

Bought the DFGT for GT5P and never regretted my decision. As everyone already mentioned, the wheel is specifically for racing games while the DS3 is for everything in general. So the wheel will definitely give you more enjoyment out of the game. In my opinion, moving two analog sticks with your thumb and pressing a button with a finger to shift is not the way to play racing games.

The first time I drove on Toscana in Rally mode, I was smiling from head to toe as I wrestled with the wheel left and right, shaking my rig violently, and causing my pedals to get some rumble from the FFB. :dopey::dopey:

DFGT definately improves the experience, dont pay retail for one though, you can pick them up from ebay used (and quite likely not used for many hours) for...cheap (I got mine in the uk for less than £60 including the postage)

But then you need somewhere to mount it.....That depends on where your TV is..

I'm thinking a lot about the problems that may occur f I do not have a proper place for the wheel.
Luckily I'd figured out.
So, thanks to GTPlanet and all the kind users I decided to buy a DFGT.

In fact, the whole structure is for the father of my fiancee, he plays with me all the time in the PSP and PS3.
A small gift for Christmas, for both... :dopey:

So, as I read, the feeling of the FFB is just real. And fun. And unique. And accuracy.
Is it?

You really shouldn't drink & drive, you know.

I said to my friend over the weekend that this game was intended to be played on a wheel on a 1080p tv, and that if you don't use a wheel and a lesser tv it was not nearly as good.

My friends tv was stuck in 480p until a new hdmi cable was used, and we did try controller for a few minutes. Once the new cable was installed and G25 hooked up I got goose bumps :D

hmm ok i guess i will buy the g27 or the DFGT (which ever i have money for) :dopey::dopey: when my birthday comes, but that is in february:nervous: i guess i cant wait that long 💡 only problem is my tv is mounted onto my wall :yuck:
