I've been thinking to get me a DSM3 2.0 modchip for my ps2. Any excperiences on how good this chip is?

Does it work with burned ps2 games witout any other gizmo like action replay or something?

I have made 2 chip installations on ps1:s without problems, is it more difficult to install a chip in a ps2?

I thought it was the DMS3 (DSM Is diamond star motors?) chip?

MY friend has that in his machine and it play's everything, Imports/DVD-R/CD-R. Although depending on the age of your PS2 it may not work. If not, go for a messiah 2 chip which can also play everything.

I have the Messiah 2 chip and it happily plays My American Xenosaga, Japanese GT3 and Japanese GT4P.

Edit: Yeah, i've done a PS1 which is only a few wires. I got a gameshop to do my PS2, because i've heard that the PS2 installations are quite complicated.

Of course I meant DMS3...

Yes, I got a V4, so it's an older version. Mabye I should check out the messiah instead.

Thanks.

I have an early V3 PS2, but if i'd had the choice I would have gotten the DMS3. I think it has a flash rom of some sort making it upgradeable. It's also got a few more fancy features.

DMS3 is the best of the best of the best of them...just be careful, buy from a certified dealer (the dms3 website has links). The certified dealers will sell it to you with the latest software pre-installed on it and the new version I hear is the one to get

If flashing isn't a big deal, get the magic 5 chip (dont get from a hk site since it's probably a recoded magic 3.1). The magic 5 boots without any special procedure & is significantly cheaper...but for some reason, I still like the dms more (I have a homemade magic3.1 & it works better than the messiahs :D)
