Had I not did a search, I would have made a repost. But here's my review on this game.
The first thing to grab my attention is all the number of cars you can race against. First off, I played one of the many championships, the '68 Mustang Challenge. I raced as many as 20 to a track, and it all played at a very nice frame rate. This was even reflected in the replays. No six to a track here, folks. Fewest I've played against so far is 8 to a track. Most is 20 so far. I actually love the detail in this game and how far ahead you can see in a race. Graphical quality isn't as groundbreaking as Gran Turismo, but the environments are nicely done. And just like "GTA: Vice City," you can note sun glare on the cars, so you see a little sparkle during the day and in tunnels. Unlike VC, there's realtime shading and reflective graphics. Despite my screwy PS2 controllers, the cars handle pretty well. Cars include a sexy Aston Martin DB7 Volante to a not-so-sexy Mack truck. Tracks include real and fictional venues including Texas Motor Speedway, Surfer's Paradise, Laguna Seca, Road America, and many more. I'm racing one of the fictional tracks, Loch Rannoch. This track is a trip around a beautiful United Kingdom countryside with a fairly easy track to run around.
PROS: nice cars, more than 6 to a track, decent car sounds, lovely environments, non-aggressive AI, decent load times, nice cars (better than PRD)...
CONS: (as I'm about to find out) not enough cars, a potentially moderate learning curve, (not a big complaint, but) the tires look a little too 2D...
VERDICT: I think you'll love it. If Pro Race Driver ticked you off, you may get a lot of relief here. 9.00 out of 10
