DualShock 3 SixAxis Won't activate during the game

I aqm having problems activating my sixaxia remotes during the game. the only way to activate it is to turn off the ps3 and restart it. or keep it pluded into the ps3. has anybody encountered this problem,

also when the battery goes in the sixaxis the games does not pause like the rest of the games,

Is this a BUG??
 
Yes i have this problem too! Its annoying, best thing to do is plug it in when the lights start flashing! You dont want it to go out during a race:P

I'm assuming that you've got a wheel, and trying to activate the sixaxis for like photo-mode or something.
I had the problem when i turned the controller on for photo mode and it would assigned to "port 2" but it would not work, just press the ps button and go to "controller options" i think, and reassign the controller to "port 1". This'll put your wheel on port 2 and controller on port one, good news is that both will work from now on.

no i dont have a wheel. if the battery needs chargin i plug it into the usb port on the ps3, when its charge i take the cable out the remote and it wont connect to the ps3
