Well we will see in 2011. I was 5 years old when it was announced and never played any of the Duke Nukem series. It might make it in the record books for the longest developed video games.

BAHAHAHA Duke Nukem Forever=Did Not Finish. that game's been up in the air for 20 years.

You'd hope that in 13 years, They've managed to make a good story line.

Lose that might. It is the longest running in-production video game.

Good to see it wasn't scrapped. I'd rather see a bad game than nothing.

This game has been in production longer than I've been alive. It better be something good, or else it'd be a wasted 13 years.

Expect more of that. ;)

I read a report of the demo that mentioned that Duke starts out by playing a game of Duke Nukem Forever, while being orally pleased by two strippers. When asked if the game was any good, Duke responds: ""Yeah but after 12 🤬 years it should be."

I also really enjoyed Prey when it was released, it featured the same kind of humor as Duke Nukem did. Can't wait to play this.

DAMN! This has been too long in coming. Owning a Saturn, I remember two shooters that stood out: Lobotomy's conversions of Quake and Duke Nukem 3D.

And on the PS1, Duke Nukem: Time to kill was also a brilliant game.

I would be more than happy with a next-gen update of the original game, but Duke needs to make a comeback, whatever kind of game he is in.

i still remember purchasing Duke nukem, and then exploring the first levels.

It will never live up to the 13 years of developement as a lot of years were in front of a court.

But just having back the duke, shrinking aliens and the cool one liners will be epic.

FINALLY!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for this game since I was 15 or 16.... I'm freaking 29 now.... YIKES! And I thought PD took their time

Well... it's not the same development team that's been working on it all these years... this time it's Gearbox (the Borderlands developer) that's working on Duke Nukem... and instead of hyping themselves up and producing nothing but vaporware (as the previous developers have done), they went ahead and bought the project and built a playable beta before tooting their horn.

THAT'S how you make a game.

Unfortunately... with the DNF vaporware issue gone... who will we crack jokes about for the next thirteen years? :dopey:

Lol, with Duke, I'd be surprised if they spent more than a week out of those 13 years on a story. The rest would be thinking up one liners and making explosions prettier and blood splattier.

There was a fully playable demo at PAX, and several people involved with Gearbox. More or less it is happening now, finally.

Just wondering, is the voice actor for Duke Nukem still working, retired, dead or what? I don't think I've heard him voice a game or anything since Duke.
His name was John St John, if I can remember.
Hope they keep him for the new game.

Again, a live demo that is playable to the public is a fairly strong indicator that there is going to be an actual game in the near future...

I always have a worry that a majorly-hyped series that produces a new game or film will be rubbish (especially revivals such as the A-Team or The Prisoner). Hopefully not this time.

Its sad that we will no longer have this perfect example of mismanagement though. Now it ironically serves as an example of succeeding even past mismanagement .

Plus, supposedly it was actually, honest-to-god almost done and nearly ready to ship when that mess with Take Two happened.

Well, apparently Duke Nukem Forever is bound to hit stores worldwide May 6

Duke Nukem Forever has been in development for a little while. To give you a sense of just how much time has passed since it was first announced, Gran Turismo--a series known for its punctuality--saw releases 1-5 hit shelves in the intervening years. Skepticism turned to actual anticipation last September, when Gearbox unveiled Duke Nukem Forever in playable form at PAX. OK, so the game was really, really, real. A lingering question remained, however: When would we be able to finally take this thing home and play it?

As it turns out, we now know when that's happening.

"Somehow the guys at Game Informer magazine discovered Duke Nukem Forever's launch date before I did," joked Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software and executive producer of Duke Nukem Forever. "But I cannot imagine any better video game news source team than Game Informer to reveal the moment of truth for the most inconceivable, incorrigible and inspiring turn around story in the history of the video game industry – the coming of Duke Nukem Forever on May 3, 2011."

“The moment fans all over the world have been waiting for is almost here,” says Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “May 3, 2011 marks Duke’s return as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. His return is going to be epic and one that will make video gaming history!”

May 3 is the North American release date. May 6 is worldwide.

I saw the release day today ( 5th may). This is gonna be an awesome year for gamers

Duke was a great game. UNfortunately since they took so long to get it out it loses some of its "Badboyness". In DN3D you would mess with strippers and shoot pigs and say 1 liners that would make your parents give you a second look and sometimes a third. lol. But now its almost the norm. Its lost the pizzazz. Yeah. I said "pizzazz". Anyway, I hope this turns out great. I've been waiting for it for 13 damned long years!! lol.
