Huh, I don't know how 'common knowledge' this is, but I'm in the habit of keeping a copy of my prize cars at 0 miles in case I need a fresh one for some event online or something. What I did was keep a separate game save in slot 2 and purchased them to that save for safe 0 mileage keeping.

Now, I've just found out that you can actually purchase a car you've just won (or any car in your garage for that matter) onto the same save you're using. Instead of loading your other game and purchasing off of card 1 to get your keeper, you can simply trade from your existing game and load the card 1 garage, buy the car you want and hoo ha, you have two versions of that same car on one save without having to load another game up.

Yep I do this, I have clones of all my favorite racecars, stock with 0 miles on the clock and the TCS and ASM turned off. This is on my 100% complete save. Although there is one car that I cant seem to do this with on the PAL version the Oreca Viper-Gtsr which pisses me off because Its one of my fav cars. Mind you I have 3 vanquishes :D so that makes up for it.

But I dont have a boat :p
Its usefull for OLR races when you need all the HP you can get. For example my S2000 had LOADS of miles and the HP kept going up and down as I used it making my performance crapper. Also when I start a new save on my other mem card I can buy cars that are piss hard to win. Also I like having new cars with no miles on the clock :p

yeah i have about 10 DIABLOs each with a specific amount of HP all with zero miles, the M-Spec, Lancia Stratos Rally car, 911 GT3, #51 Chrysler Viper & last but NOT least 6 ZZIIs in different colors. :D
:)

Where do you get all the money on your backup save to buy the extra copies? By gameshark?

Or am I not understanding something here?

Um, if I'm following correctly, are you saying that you found out that you can buy more than 1 of the same car? If so, then yes, ditto to "Logic to the rescue"... If not, then please elaborate. :)

No youth, what I'm saying is that using the Trade option in your Home menu, you can duplicate prize cars you have in your garage without the use of another memory card.

FLYR, it may be boring to you, but I felt that there may be someone out there, maybe not you, but someone, who like me likes to keep a 0 Mileage copy of all the cars you can't buy from a dealer in his/her garage for some future use that may benefit from this piece of information.

So don't piss all over the thread with your rampant stupidity.

i agree- whats a 0 mileage car going to do that a 600 mile car can't?
the cars arent that true to life, cos if they were a 0 mile car would need to be run in for a few miles before racing!!
plus u'd need to rack up at least 80,000 miles before any problems- and i dont think thats possible?

Basically for people who seem to have little understanding, you have 2 (1+1=2) memory cards, you have gt saves on both cards. The first memory card is your ultimate save, on which you have 150+ with some cars that are cloned with 0 mileage for later use. Your other save is your "current" save which you use for olr competitions or just for replaying the game. So say you need a certain race car to do an olr, now will you
1) use your 787b with 1200 miles on the clock and a slight horsepower deficency and lose because of it.
2) Get all the licences and complete the game to 75%, or do the like the wind race to get a new 787b
3) Simply pop in your "ultimate save" and buy a 0 mileage 787b from the trade?

Also the cars HP will fluctuate and go up and down until it reaches about 1000km (I think but I havent played GT3 for a looooooooong time) where it stays at a slightly lower level than it was when it was stock.

Try this thread for the HP fluctuations

Geez mate, whats the F##kin point... in case you wanna show your mates a 0 mileage car? who gives a rats a$$?

 if you act like that obviously people arent going to give two monkeys what you say. Well its up to you if you wanna act like an arse

Okay, so, if I'm following correctly...

Assuming you have a car that you want to duplicate that's in your garage (let's say for example a Nissan Z Concept), you can go to Trade; then simply buy off your Nissan Z Concept for 75,000 cr, so that now you have two copies of it in your garage?

If that it so, then great! I've always wanted to find a way to duplicate cars, and in fact I ran into the same problems with my 787B that Y2 had outlined. However, I have two questions:

1. If you save the game, then will you still have 2 cars in your garage, or is it a thing that you should only do when not saving, because it might do something funny to the data?

2. If you do it on a "not-brand-new" car (say, one that has 500 miles on it and has a racing flywheel installed), will the duplicated car be a carbon copy (500 mi and a racing flywheel), or will it be a brand-new version?

Thanks! :)

All the modifications, mileage and settings are transferred. The only thing that isnt however are the wheels, if you have chnged them on the car you want to clone they just reset to the default wheels. This is probably because if you are giving the car to someone else they may not have that particular set of wheels.

If you save the game, then will you still have 2 cars in your garage, or is it a thing that you should only do when not saving, because it might do something funny to the data?

Not that I know of, it just has the same affect as buying two exactly the same cars from the car dealer. It wont send your save into crazy mode. But if you have just got a car that you want to clone you should make sure the game is saved first or it wont come up on the trade list.

Example, I just won an Aston Martin Vanquish
"Waaaaa I want two of them" I said
1. So I saved the game (this is to update the carlist)
2. I went to trade and selected the memory card i just saved on
3. I went to the vanquish that I just won
4. I clicked on buy
5. :D thats it!
6. Oh yeah save again if you want to keep the cloned car

Maybe I should answer questions in numerical order, not the order that I read the posts :p

Thank you Y2TUSCAN, I was getting impatient with that guy. I was under the impression that more people were well informed of the effect mileage has on the HP of cars in GT3.

Oh, and Youth... watch out for that resale price. Take the Nissan Z Concept for example. Selling it will get you 75,000 but purchasing it is 4x that so you'd spend 300,000 duplicating that particular car.

Oh yeah I forgot you have to have Lots of money to do this as well! I remember winning a Jaguar XJ220 racecar, cloning it, racing and testing it both cars in un-tuned and tuned form and then selling both of them because of thier lacklustre performance.

Um, I'm not sure...

But anyhow, thank you again! I never realized that you could do this, and it certainly will come in handy. :)

Wow I didn't know that eatbitter

Welcome to :gtp:

Right I'm off to win :chkflag: myself some :mitsu: FTO's, I got the black but a red would be nice, and a Yellow, and Silver ah what the Heck I'll go get them all :cubist:

I try to drive every car I have as much as possible. I have a question for everyone. What is the highest Hp you have seen on the Subaru WRX STi. The 2001 Model. Mine just keeps going up and up the more I drive it.
