DVD drive really bugging me. Solved.

I bought PES2008 today, and im sure the problem is not the disc, its clean and brand new. However, it wont load, the DVD drive makes some noise, the light flashes but nothing happens.

However, I put a music CD in, it player, CD-ROM, played, richard burns rally dvd game, played, but not pes2008.

WTF!????????

Try going to My Computer and see if you can spot the DVD-rom icon there. If you see it, right-click and see if you find an autodrive option or something, that should start it 👍

Still nothing, it wont bring up there drop down menu when the disk is in, it just freezes.

Try going to start, then run and typing in d:\\ (replace D with the letter of the DVD drive if it's different). Similarly, try d:\\autorun.exe or d:\\setup.exe. I haven't used Windows for a while, but I think that's roughly the idea.

Again nothing, it started coming up with a spinning cd icon like it was loading but then said insert disk into drive D:\\.

It kinda made a clicking noise as well, could it be the CD? Considering all my other games work and they are DVDs.

I'd assume it is. You might wanna check the speed of the DVD on the back of the box, (4x or whatever) to see if it's higher than what your DVD drive can manage. If it's lower, there shouldn't be a problem, but if it's higher I don't think it'll work.

Turned the pc on this morning, put the disc in and voila it worked first time. Bizarre eh? Thanks for the suggestions guys!
