DVI options for the PS2

I was looking around a few days ago and found a thread talking about hooking your computer up to a computer monitor. While it provided some good info, it was primarily talking about hooking the PS2 up via a videocard or tv tuner. Close, but not really what I'm looking for.

For the life of me (I admit, I'm TIRED, I just came off a 21 hour unexpected shift, so I may not be searching with the right keywords. lol) I cannot find that thread.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 906BW. It's a 19 inch widescreen with a 2ms response. It has a dvi hookup in the back and I was wondering what options I had. Could I take the PS2 Component cables that I have and hook them into a component-DVI adapter and plug that into the LCD? Or will that not work? What would prevent it from working?

Sorry to jump into this but ive been trying to get info on this also, as i just bought an 19in NEC multisync gx2 and would love to be able to hook up the ps2 via the DVI input also. The info i been looking at from various sites tells me that there may be some issues with the sound, but dont quote me on that as i may of gotten it wrong...lol. Sorry again to jump in but i didnt want to start a new thread when your going thru the exact thing i am. It seems like it should be easy, but when you get that feeling it usually never is. :(
