just incase you don't know, DVT means deep vein thrombosis. This is basically blood clotting and is famous for its impact on economy class flyers.

Bassically I heard on the news today that a boy form Liverpool (UK) had gotten DVT after playing a video game all afternoon. He had been sitting on his feet the entire time, how stupid. And then while I qwas listening (it was on the radio) this was a sound bit of him saying,'don't sit on your feet when playing, have your legs straight out infront of you.'
Has anyone here done such a thing (not GET DVT) like playing for suspended amounts of time with your legs under you or crossed?

I'll give you a tip - 'economy class syndrome' is a very misleading nickname for this condition, as business and first class passengers are similarly affected - as are coach travellers, car passengers and drivers, and anyone else sitting still with their legs in one position for extended periods of time.

When it comes to sitting cross-legged, sitting on your feet, squatting or just any generalized style of sitting on the floor - I cannot seem to do it for more than 15-20 minutes before I get either too uncomfortable or something goes numb. I'd imagine many other adults may be that way as well.

I work with a number of patients with DVT's. With the boy mentioned in the story above, I would be interested to know if any other underlying factors were found.
It's not as easy as all that to get a DVT, unless you are largely immobile, and have a familial disposition for DVT.
I'd not be suprised to find out one of his parents is on an anticoagulant or antiplatelet aggregator, such as Warfarin (commonly used as rat poison:eek: ) or Plavix.

sitting indian style is a bad idea.good for short gaming, but doing it 10+ hours........not a good idea.

the ol' legs out work fine for me.i ge tin my computer chair, puts legs on bed and i'm good for a 3-7 hours
