While discussing DX10 with a colleague at work, i realised I might not have it installed. When I started installing games on the new machine, they automatically installed DirectX 9c.

My colleague thinks that Vista comes with DX10 already installed but I think i'm on 9c.

If I look at the microsoft website, I only see DirectX 9.22 to download.

How do I know what version I have, and if I do have 9, how can I get 10?

Start > run > dxdiag

That'll tell you what version you have (on XP anyway. I assume it's the same in Vista...)

Damnit! I new there was a command like that but I couldn't remember it. I'm running DX10.

Thanks :)

Vista comes with DX10. However, you can't run DX9 games with 10, so that's why a lot of games will still install 9. There's no problem running both 9 and 10 on Vista though.
