I'm using the e-mail notification a lot, I barely even check out the main screens anymore. However, I noticed that today's e-mails suddenly didn't have the text included in them. I didn't visit my settings-screen, so I dunno what's causing it. I use the "preview" regularily, so I'll be able to know whether it's a usefull post, or just a "Thanks" post...

Was the feature removed?
 
Are you talking about notifications to subscribed threads, or notifications for PMs you've received? I see the post content and all for thread notifications, but I haven't seen it for PMs for about at least a few weeks.
 
PMs, I know... I don't get that many either. Subscribed threads I mean. It's really annoying. I just received the notification for your reply, which didn't have the content, too.

You guys don't miss a thing, do you? :lol: I removed the feature, after just realizing today that it had snuck its way back in when I performed the major forum upgrade a few months ago. Other webmasters in the same situation have noted a 20% drop in traffic after the feature returned, all of which returned after taking it back out again.

Meh. Chances are if you subscribe to the thread you'll view it anyway. 👎
 
So it's basically so I won't see the reply, which will probably be the only one, and simply delete the message? Damn.
 
I noticed the same thing with the PMs as well. For a few weeks I used to get a small preview of what a member has said to me in it, but it has now been removed. I like it better the way it is now, as occationally I do get one or two people looking at my emails...

"Windows key - L"? You just need to set-up a password, and then it locks your computer so anyone without your password can't use your computer.

Not possible. This is the main computer in the house for all of my family's emails even though it's mine.

Oh. Well, screw 'em. :p

Would it be possible to have a "show preview in email notifications" option, and have it turned off by default? That way, Gingiba and myself and others who want the feature can use it, but for the people who don't care about it, or don't want it turned on (G.T as an example), they can have it turned off? And this way, your traffic still get raised a ton. This is a win-win-win scenario IMO.
 
Unfortunately, that's not an option due to the way email templates are stored in vBulletin.
 
I usually open the site anyway, but use this to sort of pre-read, or read while I can't read the whole thread, and only need to know something posted...
