This is a small article I read in a magazine at a local game store, but still interesting, IMO.

EA...Will it be going back?

EA, lately, has been talking about a little NFS project. The project...going back to the game's original area...Supercar racing. EA thought about the change after seeing that their new NFS game will have to compete with Juiced, SRS, and a few others. They say if they go back to the original idea, it will not be b/c of the new competition, but the demand for getting back to the old ways when the game was all about speeding in supercars. Now, we've seen the fact that GT4 doesn't have these cars b/c of the license issue. Now, if EA decides to do this, could it be a problem for GT5? We think not, since PD will be after the licenses before EA can start on this new game. The cops...return. Something we thought should have been in Underground. EA is thinking of new cars, and manufacturers such as Koenigsegg, Pagani, and the cars such as the Gallardo, Enzo, and the the thought of old cars, and returning cars. The new game (if it goes through) will have more tracks, new modes, more cars, and more of everything. The game in the works? Nope. Only the idea has popped into their heads, and talk. No go ahead on the project, or that.
Release date: Either never or late 2006. It will be an NFS game we will be looking forward to....hopefully.

Well, IMO, I like the change. I think the NFS series was all about speed, not tuning up a Skyline, and then racing. I'd rather be racing 200MPH in a Diablo, then using nitrous oxide to do 190MPH in some Miata.

Think this is a good change, or bad change? Tell me your opinions.
But like the article said, the game has yet to be decided. It's just an idea that has been talked over as of now since no one has gave the go.

Are you willing to see NFS go back?

The NFS has been natural for carring supercar games. Need For Speed don't look right for nitrous in a maita, it screams super car madness.

Infact, I still play NFS:HP2.

I would like to see High Stakes 2.

I'd would love a NFS:PU Reloaded - That old POS is still on my PC.. Taking the 78 911 Turbo to Zone Industrielle is still a scary experience 👍

Same here. Another Porsche Unleashed would be great. Same with jsut another free for all speed or come in last ala NFS1 would be great too.

I would like to see EA bring their NFS back to just super cars (maybe a few not so super). I enjoyed NFS: Underground and am looking forward to NFS: Underground 2, but you just can't beat driving 'Vettes and Diablos. I still have my NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 for my PS2 and even my NFS III: Hot Pursuit for the computer. I love supercars.

I really do hate the way that EA has gone down the undergorund route......I was playing NFS HP2 today and I really think it is EA racing at its best........that is where need for speed should be......the action and thrill of the game is really quite amazing.....I had forgotten how cool it was to be chased by cops in million dollar supercars. Also the graphics are alot more impressive in NFS HP2 than NFSU.....both on PS2.....

I totally agree with McLaren F1GTR, EA has an amazing series which probably has the history the rival the GT series........wasnt NFS around before GT???......EA have a goal mine with the NFS franchise and also the supercar licences......but unfortuaneatly they have been digging grit out of that mine!.......I really cannot wait to see Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 3 (not to be confused with NFS3 HP!)

EA has too much competition with SRS, Jucied, Midnight club.......jeez.....there are too many of those......NFS COME HOME!!!!

It seems you guys have the same views. I decided to even do a test of which was funner to day between NFS:U, and NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 with the first wheel for GT3. (Blue and black one)

On free run

HP2 with the wheel in Hot Pursuit was awesome, and very entertaining. Speeding around in the F50, having at least 2 cops and a helicopter chasing me down the Scenic Drive.

Now with NFS:U, cool, but the wheel was so much better with HP2.

Now for a little thing I thought EA left out, that could have at least made NFS:U more realistic.

After about 2 laps, I spun out on HP2 with the F50. So I decided to just gun it and spin myself around and take off. Didn't happen. The car went back around.
EA did well on this with the supercars' HP. I had to turn around slowly, and then slowly press the gas down until I could floor, without the F50 spinning wildly.

Now when I did this on NFS:U with a Skyline, and a Supra, this happened.Spun around. Floored it, and I was expecting it to do the same thing as the F50. Instead, car spins around, and just takes off. How unrealisitic is that? Even with the Skyline fully modified on the game.

This same thing happened on drifting. The supercar, you had to really keep control of it with the wheel. If it fish tailed you were most likely going to spin around.

NFS:U, I could keep 1 hand on the wheel. WHen fish tailing, you could easily put control it. Boring...No challenge really. The same thing happened on drift courses.
Yawn...could have been better and harder.

EA has done far greater things with supercar racing. The only thing about NFS:U2 I think is a BIT better than the supercars, is the CaRPG. That's it.
