gt5 had news via twitter on coming updates. how Will EA give us heads up?
there should be something new coming, they were good before the game came so i hope they continue that. where do we hang to get latest news?

EA are probably busy counting cash and SMS are making there next exploit.

Speed hunters was good for info prior to release, I wonder if they will be as good post release.

EA has a website that they actually use, and in addition to that, Unleashed has it's own page that's actually updated; and there's a Facebook page...that's actually updated.

So how many options you have that ultimately lead to the same place? A website that's actually updated accordingly.....

I'd much rather a tweet from the actual game owner that he can send from an elevator in a matter of seconds based on his personal feelings toward a question from a fan, rather than a scripted EA press release on their website or interviews with swedish know-it-all's about how on elite model S2U is more sim than anything else out there.. - Yes Marcus Nillson you said that- however laughable it is but ya say anything for $$ don't ya !

GT5 twitter > EA's money making website that they force you to go to for updates so they can get more hits and hence charge more for advertising.
Kaz couldn't give a hoot about directing you to his website to get hits for advertisers..
Go to gran-turismo.com and have a look at all the AD's on that website ? What do you notice ? THERE IS NO ADS. Case and point.
GT5 may in fact be one of the only website's in existance that don't feature any ad's ???

One hand you have a company that cares about making as most money as possible through many many different avenues, and the other who doesn't accept advertising on his website, who has never charged even a penny for DLC ( prologue ) , and has stated that he doesn't believe in paid DLC for GT5.

Personally, morally, ethically i know why i still have a copy of GT5 and why my Shift2 copy is sitting in the Pre-owned Bin at EB games.

You mean the Kaz tweets that are easily mis-interpreted and nowhere near being official? I'll take official press releases over short mis-interpreted unofficial tweets any day.

You make it sound as if PD isn't in it for money, which couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, there is a special Camaro in my GT5 garage that proves PD is out to make money.

Really, because the camaro i have in my GT5 garage i never paid anything to PD for that? Are you claiming that you made some special payment to PD? You got a free car with a razor that would normally buy every week or so anyways. Be thankful.
By a games very nature it has to make money to survive, there are different way's of going about that. Case and point EA and PD.

I'd rather an actual community. Which PD does not have because they don't have legible PR skills, apparently. And I seem to recall plenty of questions being answered on a blog, and during a live chat.

I don't even see the point in this at all. There are no ads....so?

Also I'm pretty no one from EA is holding a gun to anyone's head "forcing" them to check their website for updates. There are gaming-related websites for that, VirtualR for example. I haven't visited the official NFS page at all really until I was checking what the deal with the Loyalty Rewards was, and to check my Autolog.

Wow, a company that wants to fund any future endeavors by making more *gasp* money? Surely, that's quite unheard of...

Mor....morally? What?

Do you really think PD just runs Shick promotions for the hell of it?

No, Shick paid them money, it's called cross promotion, both companies make money off of it.

lolwut?

Morally? PD has been shafting gamers for years by refusing to include damage modeling to please their benefactors (MANUFACTURERS). Get it?

Personally, I prefer a game maker who focusses on making money. I know where their loyalties lie, I know how to persuade them, I know what they want out of the whole business transaction. I might not like it, but at least it's clear what their motives are. They will do what it takes to make more money, and it's my job to make it clear to them that they're not getting any more unless they do a proper job. I went and placed my bug report in the appropriate place on the EA forums where at least I know Drew will look at it.

PD, I don't know exactly what they want. There's no real method of communication, there's one personal twitter account where the signal to noise ratio is through the roof. Where's my official bug report forum for GT5?

I wish people would get over their irrational hatred of EA and see that they're no different from any other publisher. Just as SMS is no different from any other developer, they're under pressure from the publisher and doing the best they can. If people can cut GT5 slack for all it's foibles, they can cut Shift 2 a break.

That's the capitalist spirit! Adam Smith is smiling in his grave. 👍

Meh no hatred for EA, hate is a strong word. But watch the video of Marcuss Nilson talk about " When you you S2U on Elite handling mode it is more sim than anything else out there " -
When you have a game developer spouting off such pure bs you can't help but feel let down when you buy they game under this promise, only to play it objectively for a few days only to find out you have been blatantly lied to .... How can you support a company like this ?
Don't get me wrong GT5 has it's faults a plenty, but they game developer didn't blatantly lie to me via worldwide interview.

PD gave you almost no information at all prior to release. How is that better? PD let the 1000 cars line go for ages until they slipped up on their website and leaked the document that told us that 800 of them were GT4 models. Ditto still no matchmaking or leaderboards. Requiring patches to get online. Having mechanical damage patched in way after release. Over 1000 unique cars? Yeah, except that some of them are unique by virtue of having different paint jobs. Don't use PD as an example of a good company, they lied repeatedly.

Besides, that one quote is an outlier. They have to hype their game up, that's the purpose of marketing. That quote was designed to be a sound bite. Advertisements are designed to stretch the truth as much as possible.

Most of us learn pretty early on that advertising usually equals being as creative with the truth as you can. You have a big hamburger? World's biggest hamburger. Toothpaste? Kills 473 different kinds of bacteria. New car? Revolutionary new suspension that makes speed humps imperceptible. It's all crap, I don't know why you're surprised by this.

If you read more into some of the interviews where they started asking how sim it was going to be, it was described as somewhere between the original Shift and Forza/GT. Which it is. If you stopped listening to the BS from people whose job it is to spout BS, you'd have seen the game for what it is. A sim-light experience with excellent peripheral features.

There is this Need for Speed twitter account, but they systematically only retweet and answer people who are giving them compliments about the game. When questions are asked about bugs or criticism is given they ignore it systematically.

Great kudos to Kaz in that regard: when they planned to fix a certain issue and someone complained about it, he retweeted saying that they would fix it. Extrapolating that to EA would mean that they're just counting their cash and won't update the game...
