Easy, Normal, or Hard?

When you start a new game that gives you these options and you're playing it for the first time, which do you choose. Do you pick easy and plan to play it again on a harder mode, if the game is worth playing twice?

I ask because I started Silent Hill 3 last week and am doing easy mode first (even though I feel a little ashamed of it). I can tell it'll be over with pretty quickly and I think it's a little too easy, but I plan to play it again because it's such a great game. Second time around I'll increase the difficulty.

Normally I go for Normal mode, given a choice. If it's good enough I'll go back and do it Hard, so to speak.

I go for Hard , like in WE8 (winning eleven 8, in europe : pro evulotion soccer 4).
Hard for the first time and I won 👍

Yeah, I usually play the first level on normal. If it's a walk in the park I go back and bump it up. I've played so many video games that it's usually not much of a challenge on normal. But then some games are so skewed that "hard" is more like oh my god insane.

I remember Quake I had a 'Nightmare' difficulty. Just getting the game to start in that mode required you to swim through lava...

I always start on normal. There's always a scence of satisfaction of completing a game on that difficulty setting. Most games are identical even if the difficulty is different.

That's what Ninja Gaiden is like. YOu can choose normal and hard at the beginning. Normal is like Very-Hard on any other game. Hard is ultra-insanely hard. If you beat one of those, there is very hard... :nervous:

Ninja Gaiden, one of the best Sega Genesis games ever....
Now on XBox. Probably 10 times harder! hardest agme I've ever played!

I liked the Starfox way of changing the difficulty level. The player had to complete a small task in a level to move over to a more difficult route. There was a level on the easy route in SF 64 with a train. You had to shoot certain objects along the rails so the train would change lines and smash into a wall, instead of shooting it. This would then change the game to a harder difficulty setting.

So that's hard with 5 stars? Or the six star hard option which you have to earn.

I havn't played it for a while, mostly because I got tired of crashing into everything, but Stuntman has a really cool premise. The problem is the later stunts get so difficult that you just want to quit.

Hadn't really thought too much about which i chose (it's usually 'normal'), until my mate bought XIII and went straight in with 'hard'. He claims there's no point playing through twice, it's best to play 'hard' once than 'normal' - ''hard'.

With six stars?

Eh, I must suck. Most of the friendlys I play with six stars are usually 1 - 0 or 0 - 0. Suck! Suck!
Although to be honest i'm waiting for someone to come out with a decent patch with the latest updates and kits for WE8. So I don't play it much.

StarFox was such a cool game. Squad based air combat with awesome 3D graphics. Hard to beat.

I found that all the stunts were hard when I first played them. But the Conspiracy and James Bond movies were as tough as nails. Did you complete the game, if so 👍
