I've about had enough of Bernie Ecclestone and his constant meddling. If it ain't broke (F1) why fix it? Telling GP host countries to go to night races or lose there venue, squeezing out Indy (USA) over greed. Totally screwing up Qualifying, I like fast cars on low fuel going 'balls out', as opposed to the yawn-fest now. Recently he said Hamilton saved F1... I'll keep my personal opinion of Hamilton to myself, but I liked F1 just fine when it wasn't all about him. 'Stone pretty much said Hamilton was a fresh ray of sunshine, compared to Raikonnen who is too "discreet" in person. I'm tired of Max AND Bernie. Now Stoney stands by Max, that's rich. Let's not forget his brilliant idea for tweaking the points system as in J-PaP's thread...

Give Hamilton another year, he'll probably be clannish, bitter, and robotic to the media just like every other F1 driver. (I hope I'm wrong, though.)

The British media has (obviously) had a controlling interest in broadcasting/reporting F1 news to English-speakers. Of course they're going to jump all over the successful new bloke wearing a Union Jack: In the 80s it was Mansell-mania, then every drama of Damon Hill, after that, Button Button Button, and now everything that Lewis does or says or sponsors is news. We probably hear a little bit more about it in America due to the breaking of the "color barrier".

The loss of the USA GP was due to a poor crowd and TV turn out; qualifying is now a "race within a race" (sometimes more exciting than the actual race event...after a few laps).

And don't forget that since F1 is a traditionally European sport, it makes sense than Grand Prix would be broadcast at night to get a maximum audience. It wouldn't work for America as there's more interest in Indy and NASCAR. The only thing that surprises me is why no-one thought of it sooner.

Mustag, if you don't like theway the sport is run, the answer is simple: don't watch. Until then, stop making useless threds like this one.

Thanks for the opinion, from a guy who last week thought VMM was excluded from this years WCC. This isn't Russia, I'm free to speak my mind within the rules.
@ BLAKE, that was my understanding as well. Bernie just wanted too much which directly effects spectator turn-out. Ticket prices would be insane. Take Silverstone, the average Joe will find tickets hard to afford after the lavish upgrades 'stone forced on them.

Heidfeld & Alonso would disagree and personally I like light cars on fumes. IMO it showcases cars ultimate performance. Already revisions are under way to 'fix' new format with 120% rule. Too many drivers concerned with fuel strategy when they should be hauling ass for pole. What's next? Reversing the grid?!

You'd rather go back to the old days of an hour for qualifying, the first 40 minutes of which are shots of an empty track?

We can (sort of) see how fast the cars are on low fuel in Q1 and 2. Personally, I'd rather they ran low fuel in Q3 as well, but I'd rather we had the current system than the one hour from years back.

Again, business. If you have a driver in the papers - for any reason, good or bad (think Schumacher's controversies) - then you have F1 in the papers. That means people are more likely to watch it, which means more people to buy the sponser's products.

Both Bernie and Max have always been very outspoken people. It's just the way they are. At least they have opinions and aren't afraid to speak them. (Very similar to yourself, in that respect. )
